We are always looking to learn more about other peoples cultures here at The Rowans. As part of our diversity and inclusion calendar, our Life Skills Art group have been learning about Swedens Dala Horse, which has become a symbol of Swedish folk art and culture!

Thank you so much to Worthing Mencap & Buddys who hosted their annual sports and funday again last week Every year they open Worthing Leisure Centre up to Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities. They offer a variety of different activities which give all of us a chance to experience something we may not normally be able to try as well as a free ice cream.

We all had the best time! Mencap funday is a highlight in our year and we will look forward to the next one!

The first week of June was volunteer"s week and we chose to celebrate our lovely volunteer Kitty by treating her to Afternoon Tea. Every Friday she lends us her time to serve the drinks in our cafe we really appreciate all she does for us week in, week out.
We hope she enjoys her time with us as much as we do her!

Some of us have spent the afternoon at Thai Street Food learning about their culture through dancing, beautiful dresses and their food. What a lovely colourful way to spend the afternoon 💃🏻

We are looking for some of these small wooden construction kits for one of the people we support to work on. If anyone has any of these that still need to be built and are looking for a new home we would be really grateful 🙏 We are able to collect locally. Thank you 🙏

Our Lilibet’s group has recently celebrated Dementia Action week by creating this piece of Art. Using the forget-me-not flower they have created the illusion of the memory falling.
Did you know that Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer with 1 in 3 people born in the UK today going onto develop Dementia in their lifetime.
This it is why it is so important to raise awareness to bring people and organisations together as it effects all of us 💙💛

Last week some of us took a trip to Hayling Island Donkey Sanctuary. We had a lovely couple of hours visiting their beautiful donkeys and found the whole sanctuary to be really accessible and friendly. The volunteers were extremely helpful and they even had a small café where we stopped for a lovely piece of cake.
Thank you to Tina who adopted us our very own donkey called Denzil in memory of her Mum ❤️
We are excited to follow his progress and are looking forward to visiting him again soon 🫏
