A little rain is welcome, but the River Test is still under pressure after months of dry weather.

We're thanking everyone across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight who has been doing their bit to save water and support the hosepipe ban. Every drop really does make a difference when it comes to protecting our rivers and our local environment.

We're working hard behind the scenes too, finding and fixing leaks across our network, with more than 12,000 repaired so far this year.

☔ "How can we be short of water when it rains all the time?"

It's a question we hear a lot.

Yes, last winter was one of the wettest on record. But water scarcity isn't just about how much rain falls. Much of our water comes from rivers and underground water sources, and during dry periods we're using water faster than nature can replace it.

And while summer rain can be welcome, it's often only a short-term relief. A quick downpour doesn't always soak into the ground where we need it most, so it doesn't necessarily replenish the water sources we rely on.

That's why we're investing in the future. From Havant Thicket Reservoir to a new water recycling scheme, we're building a more resilient water supply to help protect the region during future droughts. https://ow.ly/5PKh50ZBubL

Our teams have been working around the clock since Friday evening to manage an incident at Otterbourne Water Supply Works and protect water supplies for customers across Hampshire.

While the site experienced operational issues that impacted water production over the weekend, customers have remained in supply and reservoir levels have been recovering thanks to the efforts of our operational, engineering and network teams.

As a precaution, we have delivered bottled water to vulnerable customers, prepared support for critical sites such as hospitals and set up bottled water stations should they be needed.

While the situation has improved, work continues and the incident remains ongoing. We continue to closely monitor the network and remain prepared to provide further support if required.

A huge thank you to the volunteers who joined the latest "balsam bashing" session along the River Great Stour in Ashford. 🌿

Working alongside the Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership, volunteers helped remove invasive Himalayan balsam to protect local wildlife, improve river habitats and support healthier waterways for the whole community. 💙

With drought now being declared in parts of England, including Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, there's huge pressure on the rivers, reservoirs and groundwater we all rely on.

That's why we're focused on finding and fixing leaks as quickly as possible, improving our network, and investing in long-term solutions to secure future water supplies. In the last month, we've recovered more than 12.5 million litres of water, enough to fill five Olympic-sized swimming pools, using innovative technology to find hidden leaks and repair them quickly.

We're also investing in projects like Havant Thicket Reservoir, which will help provide a more resilient water supply for future generations.
