Thank you, Wotton! We may not have had exactly the event we planned, but we still pulled off something wonderful for the community. We had kids activities! We had acoustic music! We had Disney princess singalongs! And Cat Amongst The Pigeons rocked the pub and gave everyone a brilliant end to their Sunday!
And of course the forecast thunderstorm didn’t hit until the middle of the night, 12 hours after it was predicted. Unlike last year, when ironically the rain was far worse, this year a thunderstorm was forecast. Despite the fact that it barely rained all sodding day, we would make the same decision again with the info offered from BBC, met office etc. Your safety comes above anything else, and will always be our highest priority.
All that said, what a fantastic day everyone had! We’re so thankful to everyone who helped make it happen - the volunteers, Read With Me, Mad About Art, the incredible musicians and the very hard working team at Royal Oak Wotton who let us more the whole jamboree inside. We also left our buckets and welcomed the Rotary Club of Cotswold Tyndale collect on behalf of the Nepal disaster and they raised a few hundred quid at the pub alone! We’re thinking about a different date for next year… hopefully one that guarantees to be dry, if anyone has intel on that!
