Hi everyone 👋

Just a little reminder: our Summer Party is happening today, 2–4pm 🤩

Free to attend, with lots of opportunities for children and young people to play, enjoy time with friends, and for families to come together and enjoy the afternoon 🎉💛

We’ll have a water slide, free food and drink, a sandpit, a jumping platform, plus lots more for children, young people and families to enjoy 🎉💛

Playday was enjoyed by many this year, including the adults! Everyone had the opportunity to get creative by colouring in the van, showcasing their artistic skills, or simply writing their name. It was lovely to see everyone getting involved and sharing their creativity. We enjoyed seeing all the wonderful artwork! 🎨🖌️🖍️🤩🎨🌅☀️

Press Play on Wrexham 🤩

Wrexham’s official bid for UK City of Culture 2029 has now been submitted - and we couldn’t be prouder to support it. Play has shaped this city for generations, and it’s amazing to see it recognised as part of Wrexham’s cultural story 🙌

UK City of Culture 2029 isn’t just a title. This bid isn’t just a document. It’s thousands of conversations, years of creativity, generations of stories, and a huge belief in what Wrexham already is, and what it can be.

The bid is in. Let’s see where play takes us 💛

Yesterday at Youth Club, our young people enjoyed making delicious pitta bread pizzas! 🍕 They practised their cutting skills, learned about the importance of food hygiene and staying safe in the kitchen, and had fun choosing their favourite toppings to create their own pizzas.

It was lovely to see everyone relaxing with friends and enjoying the tasty pizzas they had made themselves. 😊

The children have been making the most of the beautiful warm weather, enjoying lots of fun activities while staying safe in the shade. From getting creative with colouring and tie-dyeing T-shirts to cooling off with a delicious ice cream, dress up and water fights it’s been a wonderful few days! 🎨🛝⚽️🖌️💦🔫

We were also delighted to welcome Robbie from active Wrexham, who joined us for some football fun. The young people loved showing off their football skills and had a fantastic time playing together.⚽️🏐🥅 Active Wrexham

Our young people have really enjoyed making the most of the youth club kitchen, creating everything from delicious toasties to colourful fruit kebabs!

Cooking together has given them the opportunity to try new foods, develop their food preparation and safe cutting skills, and build confidence in the kitchen. It’s also been a great way to work as a team, support one another, and spend time relaxing with friends while enjoying the tasty snacks they’ve made together. 🔪🍴🍽️🍞🥪

It’s been wonderful to see everyone getting involved, learning new skills, and having fun along the way 🍑🍌🍓🍍

We’ve got some amazing news to share ✨

We have been awarded £499,589 from The National Lottery Community Fund to help secure the future of Gwenfro Valley and The Land Adventure Playgrounds over the next five years 🎉

Both playgrounds sit at the heart of Caia Park and Plas Madoc, welcoming hundreds of children, young people and families every year. For over 40 years combined, we’ve provided safe, joyful spaces where children build confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging through play 🌈

Our new project - Stronger Together: Play and Belonging will start on the 1st July 2026 and will help us keep doing what works so well in our communities: creating warm, welcoming spaces rooted in local strengths 💚

This project will embed Play, Youth Development and Family Support right at the heart of Caia Park and Plas Madoc, helping reduce isolation, grow aspiration and strengthen the community‑owned spaces that make such a difference 🙌

This funding also recognises the huge journey we’ve been on - AVOW has managed The Land for 15 years, and in 2025 stepped in to keep Gwenfro Valley open when it faced closure.
Bringing both playgrounds together under one team has strengthened collaboration and expanded what we can offer 🤝

This investment means these vital spaces can continue inspiring and welcoming the next generation 🌟
