🌿🌸 A BIG THANK YOU TO Rhosymedre Churchyard Volunteers

Cefn Community Council would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the wonderful Rhosymedre Churchyard Volunteers who continue to give up their own time to help maintain and care for our local churchyard. 👏💚

Despite the very wet grass and the evenings getting darker, five dedicated volunteers were out again this week cutting the grass and keeping the churchyard looking tidy and cared for.

Your hard work and dedication really do make a difference, especially to those visiting loved ones. It certainly doesn't go unnoticed, and we are very grateful for everything you do. ❤️

⚠️ A LITTLE WARNING TO VISITORS ⚠️

The volunteers have reported disturbing an underground wasps' nest while cutting the grass and unfortunately received a few stings.

Please take extra care when visiting the churchyard and be mindful of the area until the situation has been dealt with.

🌷 Community volunteers like these are worth their weight in gold!

🏛️⛏️ THIS WEEK'S FEATURED OBJECT AT CEFN MAWR AND DISTRICT MUSEUM! ⛏️🏛️

❤️ Have you visited our wonderful local museum yet?

This month's featured object is a Miner's Coaling Shovel, a reminder of the days when mining played such an important part in the lives of families across Cefn Mawr and the surrounding villages.

But there's so much more to discover at Cefn Mawr and District Museum!

🏛️ We would really love to encourage more residents to pop along, have a look around and support this fantastic little museum right here on our doorstep.

Whether you've lived in Cefn Mawr all your life or are new to the area, there's something special about discovering the history of the place we call home.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Why not take your children or grandchildren along and show them what life was like in years gone by?

👏 A huge thank you to the dedicated museum volunteers who give their time to preserving our local history for future generations.

A massive well done to little Flossy and her lovely mum, who went out litter picking around Acrefair village after school, despite the rain! ☔👏

Together they managed to collect 1 very heavy bag of litter! 🗑️💪

What an absolute little superstar Flossy is! ⭐ While most of us would rather be tucked up indoors out of the rain, Flossy was out helping to keep her village clean and tidy! 🥰

A huge thank you to Flossy and her mum! You're both a credit to our community, and we really appreciate your efforts! 💚👏

💚♻️ JUST LOOK WHAT ONE AMAZING LADY HAS COLLECTED IN ONLY 4 DAYS – AFTER HAVING A WEEK OFF!! ♻️💚

👏 27 BAGS OF LITTER PLUS A WHOLE COLLECTION OF LARGER ITEMS – ALL IN JUST 4 DAYS! 👏

Well, it certainly looks like the litter was waiting for Jacqueline to come back from her week off! 😂

After enjoying a well-deserved break, our incredible volunteer Jacqueline Palmer, along with her trusty companion Hoopy, has certainly made up for lost time!

And just look what she's collected in FOUR DAYS! 😲

🗑️ 27 bags of litter
🪵 3 wooden pallets
🛞 Car wheels and bicycle parts
🛒 A Tesco shopping trolley
🚧 Traffic cones
🧸 A bin full of children's toys
🛋️ A large padded cushion
📦 A plastic storage container
⚠️ A NOX canister
🚗 Car parts and other discarded rubbish!

🚶‍♀️ Jacqueline has covered miles across Rhosymedre, Cefn Mawr, Plas Madoc, Ruabon, Trevor Basin, Ty Mawr Country Park and surrounding areas.

She's even managed to capture some beautiful sunrise photographs along the way and rescue a rather lost Tesco shopping trolley, which was safely returned home! 😂🛒

❤️ A special thank you also goes to the Council wagon driver who kindly stopped to help Jacqueline with a large wooden pallet. What a lovely gesture!

It really is shocking just how much rubbish is being dropped and dumped around our communities. Surely we can all do our bit to keep our villages clean and tidy?

🌟 Jacqueline, you really are ONE IN A MILLION! 🌟

The dedication, time and effort you put into looking after our community is absolutely incredible. Even after a week off, you've come back and collected all this in just four days!

💚 From everyone at Cefn Community Council, a MASSIVE THANK YOU! We appreciate everything you do, and our community is a much cleaner place because of you! 💚

🐶💩 PLEASE RESPECT OUR DOG WASTE BAG DISPENSERS! 💩🐶

We are extremely disappointed to see dog waste bags being left hanging out of our dog waste bag dispensers, as shown in the photograph.

⚠️ Can we please remind everyone that these dispensers are provided for dog owners to take a bag, NOT to be used as bins for disposing of dog waste!

Our staff and volunteers work hard to keep our community clean and tidy, but we are not here to remove bags of dog waste from these dispensers. It is unpleasant, unhygienic and completely unnecessary.

🐾 We would also like to remind everyone that Cefn Community Council is not obliged to provide these free dog waste bags. We do so as a courtesy to encourage responsible dog ownership and help keep our community clean.

❗ If this misuse continues, we will unfortunately have no option but to consider removing the dispensers altogether.

It would be a real shame for responsible dog owners to lose this free facility because of the actions of a few inconsiderate individuals.

✅ Please take a bag, clean up after your dog and dispose of the waste responsibly in a suitable bin.

💚 These facilities are provided for everyone's benefit, so please respect them.

Let's work together to keep Cefn and our surrounding communities clean and pleasant for everyone.

🌿🧤 A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR LITTER PICKING HEROES! 🧤🌿

A huge thank you to the Cefn Community Councillors and staff at Tesco who came along and supported our monthly community litter pick today! 💚👏

It was lovely to see everyone coming together, giving up their time and helping to keep our community clean, tidy and looking its best. 🌸🌍

Every little bit makes a difference, and it's amazing what we can achieve when we all work together! 💪

Your time, effort and support are very much appreciated, and we really couldn't do it without people like you!

Thank you once again for helping to make our community a cleaner and nicer place for everyone. ❤️

📅✨ SAVE THE DATE – SOMETHING NEW IS COMING TO CEFN MAWR! ✨📅

I know, I know… it's only October and I'm already talking about January! 😂 But I'm busy planning something that I hope will be really beneficial to our community, so I wanted to give everyone plenty of notice!

💙 CEFN COMMUNITY SUPPORT SURGERY 💙

📅 Monday 11th January 2027
⏰ 12 noon – 3.00 pm
📍 George Edwards Hall, Cefn Mawr

I'm currently working behind the scenes contacting lots of different organisations and support services, inviting them to come along and share information about the help, advice and services they can offer.

The idea is simple – bring lots of helpful organisations together under one roof, making it easier for local residents to find the support they need! 🤝

I'm hoping to have organisations covering everything from:

💚 Health and wellbeing
🏡 Housing and independent living
💷 Benefits and financial guidance
💼 Employment and training
🤝 Community support and advice

And hopefully lots more!

🌟 This event will be FREE and open to everyone, regardless of age!

I've already had some lovely positive responses, and I'm really excited to see it all coming together.

This is just a little SAVE THE DATE for now. Once I've confirmed which organisations will be attending, I'll share all the details with you.

📣 So pop Monday 11th January in your diary!

Hopefully, this will be the first of many quarterly Community Support Surgeries here in Cefn Mawr.
