Wrexham Flying Start Flying Start is a Welsh Government programme to support parents and carers to help their children to flourish and have the best possible start in life.

The programme is aimed at making a positive impact upon children and parent/carers lives, bringing about substantial improvements in their health and wellbeing and life chances. The service has 4 main elements;
• an intensive health visiting service
• access to parenting support
• free quality part-time childcare for 2-3year olds
• support for speech, language and communication development

Starting Soon / Hope2Recovery

Hope2Recovery is a short programme for any adult that is experiencing or has previously experienced domestic abuse. The programme aims to be a step towards recovery.

This programme supports understanding of what domestic abuse is and the tactics used by perpetrators to maintain control, looking at how this can affect parenting and the ways people may have adapted to cope with the abusive behaviour.

The programme supports understanding about what makes a relationship healthy, unhealthy or abusive and supports planning for future safety.

We provide refreshments and crèche places, making it easier for parents and carers to take part in the workshops (booking is essential to secure a creche space).

The first 20 minutes after a burn or scald are important. Knowing the right first aid can help limit the severity of the injury.

Remember: Cool, Call, Cover

💧 COOL the burn under cool running water for 20 minutes
📞 CALL 999 for serious burns or seek medical advice
🩹 COVER the burn loosely with cling film

This is a practical course to help parents and carers learn how to develop their child’s understanding and talking.
Over the 6 sessions you will explore strategies and activities that can be used with your child at home, helping them become a confident communicator.

Topics covered include:
» Understanding what’s happening when we talk to each other.
» Enhancing interaction between children and adults.
» Developing play so that talking develops.
» Improving listening and understanding.
» Exploring how children learn new words
