The next Repair Cafe Overton-on-Dee is going to be held NOT on Saturday June 20th as advertised in The Oracle but is going to be held on SATURDAY JULY 25TH. The reason for this is that the wonderful OVERTON VILLAGE FETE is going to be held on our usual last Saturday in June spot, and on the Saturday before that,June 20th ,several of our volunteers will not be available.
So please come to the next Repair Cafe Overton-on-Dee on the new date, Saturday July 25th when the volunteers will be there to attempt to repair your broken household items and textiles and to serve refreshments while you watch the repairers in action.

This weekend's Repair Cafe Overton-on-Dee was a success. A lawn mower was repaired, several lamps were mended and a WI shield was rendered as good as new. The seamstress ' were busy attending to garments which needed attention and drinks and home made cakes were served. Everybody present, the people doing the repairs, the people who helped in other important ways and the people who came for refreshments and to watch the repairs being done all said that they had enjoyed the session.

The next Overton-on-Dee Repair Cafe is going to be held very soon. If you would like to volunteer , either by repairing broken items, being a friendly welcomer or helping with the paperwork, or serving refreshments, or even by donating a cake without obligation to stay to help , please come along on Saturday May 30th to the Catholic Church Hall on Wrexham Road from 11am until 12.30pm. You will be made very welcome.

This weekend the lady who cleans the public toilets was on holiday so a member of Overton Community Council volunteered to open and close the toilets to keep the facilities open despite the fact that a cleaner wasn't available for the last few days.

This is a polite message for school leavers and others who will be going down to the river in Overton this weekend . Please do not leave your litter in the field for other people to pick up for you .Please take it home or put it in one of the litter bins in Overton village . It is not kind to wildlife or to the cows who graze in the field to leave litter around that could harm them. It is also very unsightly. The river and surrounding fields are beautiful but litter is not beautiful. Thank you in advance for your co-operation.

Tomorrow is the last Afternoon Tea we'll be holding in May since next week is a bank holiday. So do come along for a cuppa, cake and a good old chat. We'll look forward to seeing you in the Parish Room from 2pm. See you tomorrow!
