Erddig Youth Club

Erddig Youth Club A unique youth club based at the Felin Puleston Countryside Centre on the Erddig Estate. Who can join? Anyone aged 11-18 can join. What do I get by joining?

The Erddig Youth Club was established in 1999 to provide local young people with somewhere safe and warm to meet up and have fun. The youth club is a partnership between Offa community Council and the National Trust. Our aim is to encourage young people to be good citizens by providing the opportunity to get involved in volunteering, looking after the environment and help each other out, all whil

st having a good deal of fun of course. As a voluntary club it is entirely self funded and is run by a team of dedicated volunteers. As a member of the youth club you can come along any Monday evening to the youth club sessions. We have a range of activities like cooking, crafting, sports or you can just hang out, play pool, table soccer or go on the Wii. We also have an allotment and a wildlife garden that we maintain and grow vegetables to sell, helping us to raise funds for trips. During school breaks / at weekends we hold conservation days where we help the Erddig Rangers, this could be clearing the river, fencing, footpath construction. Basically anything!

If any parent/guardian is able to give one of our newer members a lift home to Rhos this evening due to family car trouble, please could you pop into the youth club and let us know at 6.30pm. Many thanks.

We have had a number of messages asking about funeral arrangements for Ken. It will be taking place on the 27th March at 10AM at Pentrebychan Crematorium and the reception will be held at Brymbo Cricket Club at 12PM. If you would like to leave a tribute or donate to the wonderful people at Shooting Star, who provided excellent care for Ken in recent years, please follow the link below.

Ask for help - the Erddig Youth Club has always run on a small budget which has enabled us to deliver activities and be open to all for no fee. This is how we will always remain. However, unfortunately our bank, along with other banks, is now charging a monthly fee of £5 which we need to cover. If anyone is willing or able to help us cover this we will have a donations tub at the youth club each week for any contributions. We can also message our BACs details should anyone wish to contribute in this way. Many thanks in advance for your support.

On Friday we held our first conservation session of the year and those who attended got stuck in with making a Willow screen around one of the benches in the Mindful Meadow, and installing a new bench close by. Everyone worked so well as a team! Many thanks to Mieke DeLathouwers, Children and Young People Lead, and Katie Jones, Community Ranger for working with us.
