A little heads-up for anyone visiting the town centre over the coming week.

Maintenance works are being carried out at the Market Cross and, for safety reasons, the area immediately surrounding the building will be temporarily cordoned off while the works take place.

The Market Cross will be closed on Wednesday 27th May.

These works will not impact pedestrian or vehicular access through the town centre.

We kindly ask visitors to take extra care around the working area and thank everyone for their patience while these important improvements are completed.

📢 Update from Moot Hill

Next week work will begin on the creation of new routes and pathways at Moot Hill, with the aim of opening initial circular paths around the edge of the monument in September 2026.

These paths will use natural materials, including woodchip and dead hedging, to manage access sensitively while further research takes place before the monument's centre can be opened.

On Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th May, Evergreen will be installing bod paving (a permeable, plastic grid filled with natural material) which will create a link between the Wymondham Town Council path and the Moot Hill entrance.

Over the coming months, Greening Wymondham and the Norwich Fringe Project will also be carrying out work at Moot Hill, including:
🌿 creating dead hedging
🪵 wood chipping for paths
🌱 beginning the removal of willow growth in the centre of the mound

As always, all areas will be checked for nesting birds before any work is undertaken.
Greening Wymondham will be on site at Moot Hill on:

🗓️ Tuesday 19th May
🗓️ Tuesday 2nd June

Thank you for your patience and support as these improvements are made to Moot Hill.
