Wicklewood Windmill

Wicklewood Windmill Built in 1845 Wicklewood Mill is a five storey tower mill with 4 sails, a boat shaped cap and 6 bladed fantail. Open on selected dates and by appointment.

Built in 1845 Wicklewood Mill is a grist mill for animal feed. Last milling in 1941 it was left to deteriorate until it was taken into the care of Norfolk Windmills Trust in 1977. Wicklewood Windmill was open to the public for the first time in 1979 when over 300 people visited. The first restoration of the mill was carried out from 1979 to 1981. Following the completion of the most recent restora

tion of the cap and sails in 2012 the mill is once again open to the public on selected dates throughout the summer months. Run by a group of volunteers the mill hosts regular vintage displays and provides refreshments from the Miller's Kitchen. Our enthusiastic volunteers have a wealth of knowledge and a passion for the building. We would be pleased to welcome you to our mill not only to view this wonderful building but to see the inside where nearly all the machinery & tools associated with milling are still in place. Entrance to the mill is its entirety is £3 per adult, free for under 16s

Its going to be very warm for our open day tomorrow🌡☀️ but, don't let the heat put you off visiting our windmill. Its beautifully cool inside and there is so much to see!

We will also put our big marquee up to provide our visitors with some much needed shade 😎

We are looking forward to our next opening on Sunday 9th August. If you are looking for an affordable afternoon activity to keep yourselves or your children entertained during the summer holidays then please come to visit! As well as the internal milling machinery inside the windmill we have lots of interesting farming and milling tools on display. Not to mention a selection of delicious savoury and sweet treats 😋

A very, VERY big thank you to all our lovely visitors today! Thank you all for your patience- we had such a successful day and had a record number of teddy bears descend our zip wire. It was so lovely to see all of your amazing soft animals. Our volunteers had so much fun and we hope you did too. I think we are going to sleep well tonight!

Yippee! There are only 3 more sleeps until our favourite open day of the year, our Teddy Bear Zip Wire Event! 🐻🐨🐼 Come and join us on Sunday 14th June, 2 to 5pm, for an afternoon filled with fun, tea and cakes.

Our teddy bear zip wire is open to all varieties of soft toys 🧸 ….. a knitted tractor even descended last year! 🚜

We will be opening our doors once again on Sunday 10th May for National Mills Weekend. Wicklewood Windmill is a beautiful, 181 year old, 5 storey tower mill. Whether you are a mill enthusiast, have an interest in historic buildings, like climbing ladders or simply enjoy eating cake - there is something for everyone!
