Yarm Independent Association Yarm Independent Association (YIA) are independent of all political parties. YIA was formed to ensure that the residents are supported by people who care.

YIA was formed by Marjorie Simpson to ensure that the residents of Yarm are supported and free from influence by political leaders demanding their policies be adopted. We want to ensure that only policies that offer the best interests of the town and its residents are supported. Candidates are selected for their knowledge, understanding and sympathy towards the town, its residents and business com

munity. On this basis, each elected YIA councillor vote for policies as their conscience dictates for the good of our town, and as we are an independent organisation, no block votes or whip is ever applied to our elected members.
