Work will begin to revamp Kingswood’s Court Road play area at the beginning of next month.

New spider themed features are part of the design after local people told us of their fond memories of a former spider climbing frame which was a firm favourite several decades ago.

🛠️ Work is due to start on site w/c 31 August meaning the play site will need to be closed for 6 to 8 weeks while the transformation begins.

🛝 Further ideas for the new equipment have come directly from the public following a consultation held last year - including a new spider web climbing net, and a new toddler multi play unit with slide and fireman’s pole. Also included is a trampoline, inclusive roundabout, new swings with a mother/toddler seat, a Zippie glider, balance beams, springers, play panels, additional seating, and safety surfacing.

Funding has been allocated by South Gloucestershire Council with additional capital support provided by Kingswood Town Council.

🔥 Sorting your waste before you visit helps prevent fires.

If you bring black bags to a recycling centre, we'll ask you to open and sort them. This helps staff spot batteries and vapes that could cause fires, and remove recyclable items from general waste.

Little Stoke cannot accept recyclables, so any brought to site will need to be taken home. Most recyclable items can be collected through your weekly kerbside recycling service.

B4055 Cross Hands Road and Marsh Common Road in Pilning will be closed 24/7 in phases from the 1 September to 20 November for major reconstruction works.

To reduce the disruption to residents, we will be carrying out the major maintenance works in 5 phases. Cross Hands Road will undergo major reconstruction and resurfacing. Marsh Common Road needs to be dug out to a considerable depth, rebuilt and realigned.

Whilst the areas are closed, we recommend parking affected vehicles outside of the area, so that residents can use them as, during the works, access cannot be given while roadworks are taking place.

Works will take place Monday to Friday during normal working hours. However, please note that adverse weather conditions or plant/delivery problems may affect these times and dates.

• phase 1: 1 to 4 September 2026
• phase 2: 7 to 9 September 2026
• phase 3: 10 to 15 September 2026
• phase 4: 16 September 2026
• phase 5: 17 September to 20 November 2026

We apologise for any inconvenience these essential works may cause.

Families enjoyed finding out more about the seasonal pond in Jubilee Park, Cadbury Heath, during a summer open day.

Despite the very hot and dry conditions, wildlife is thriving in the base of the pond, ready for when it refills during wetter conditions.

We are looking for volunteers to help us manage the site - for more information please email [email protected].

UPDATE: postponed until further notice.

Overnight road closures.

Please be aware that a section of Westerleigh Road and Shire Way will be closed in both directions overnight from 24 to 31 August, between 8pm and 6am, as part of the Yate Spur active travel improvements.

The closures are between the Rodford Way/Road to Nowhere roundabout, along Westerleigh Road to the mini-roundabout near the viaduct. They are needed to safely install new underground ducting for the new pedestrian crossings and to carry out essential works.

During the overnight closures, there may be delays while operatives ensure safe access to properties. Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey. We apologise for the inconvenience.

The Yate Spur project will improve walking, wheeling and cycling links between Yate, Westerleigh and surrounding communities. To find out more, visit https://orlo.uk/Yate_Spur_TpZjb
