We’re out and about this Saturday (11th April) giving you the chance to learn what it’s really like to be part of your local fire crew.

Come and meet us at one of our stops throughout the day:

📍 13:30 – 15:00 Cadbury Garden Centre

Our appliance and crew will be there all day (unless we get a fire call) ready to chat, answer your questions, and bring the role to life.

🔥 February Call-Out Summary 🔥

February was a steady month for the crew, with a total of 9 shouts.

We saw our crews getting involved with:

🚒 4 Fires
🚑 2 Assisting Ambulance Crews
🚨 1 Road Traffic Collision (RTC)
🔔 1 Alarms
👨‍🚒 1 Standby to provide operational cover

While it wasn’t our busiest month, every call matters and as always, our firefighters were ready to respond whenever needed across the community... some of you may have even spotted us training locally too!

🚒 Monthly Call-Outs Round-Up 🚒

It’s been another busy month for the crew, with 16 shouts keeping us on our toes. These included:

• Assisting our Ambulance service colleagues 🚑
• Investigating smell of gas in the village 😷
• Multiple occasions of alarms 🚨
• 3 road traffic collisions 🚗
• A flat fire 🔥
• Standby duties at a neighbouring station 🏢
• And even a horse rescue 🐴

Alongside all of this, we’re proud to celebrate one of our newer recruits who has successfully gained Competent status after two years of hard work, training, and dedication. A fantastic achievement and well deserved 👏🔥

🔌 Fire Safety Reminder 🔌
Electrical faults are a common cause of fires. Please remember to:
• Avoid overloading plug sockets – try to keep one plug per socket
• Regularly check cables and plugs for damage or scorch marks
• Switch appliances off at the socket when not in use (unless designed to stay on)
• Only buy chargers and electrical items from reputable sources

If you ever have an electrical fire, never use water. If it’s safe to do so, switch off the power, get out, stay out, and call 999.

🚨 First two shouts of the year – and we’re straight into it with back-to-back calls:

🕓 16:21 – Mobilised to assist our colleagues in the ambulance service. South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust

Good inter-service teamwork to get the situation managed quickly and safely. 🚑

🕔 17:12 – Smell of gas reports led crews to investigate, alongside the gas board; ensuring public safety and no further action was required. 🧯

🔎 Fun fact: Our GasAlert detector monitors can detect multiple gases at once, giving crews instant warnings and helps keep everyone safe on scene. ⚠️

As 2025 reaches its final moments, we’re taking a look back on a year that’s tested us, challenged us, and reminded us why we’re proud to serve our community.

🚨 Total shouts: 229
From the first call of the year to the last, no two days were ever the same. We responded to everything from fires to road traffic collisions, working side by side with our fellow blue light colleagues when it mattered most.

Along the way, we also tackled a wide range of special service calls — rescuing animals large and small, dealing with fallen power cables, and stepping in wherever help was needed.

We also provided standby cover to support operational shortfalls during large-scale and protracted incidents, ensuring cover remained in place for our communities when demand was at its highest.

🤝 Beyond the emergencies, we’ve been out in the community too — visiting local schools, hosting youth clubs, and supporting visits to hospitals. Building those connections is just as important to us as the emergency response.

🔧 As the countdown rolls on into 2026, we’re excited to see our station refurbishment completed early in the new year and look forward to welcoming our community in to have a look around once it’s finished.

With the year not quite over yet, we remain ready should we be needed through into the new year.

As the final seconds of 2025 tick away, we’d like to thank everyone for their continued support — and wish our community a safe, happy, and healthy New Year.
