Happening tomorrow if your looking for something to do with the kids 🚒🙌

🚒 GREENBANK FIRE STATION OPEN DAY 🚒

Join us at Greenbank Fire Station on Sunday 16 August, from 11am until 3pm, for a fun and informative day for the whole family.
Come along, meet your local crews and find out more about the work we do to protect our community.

Throughout the day, there will be:
Road traffic collision rescue demonstration
Aerial Ladder Platform rescue demonstration
Kids-on-hoses activities
First-aid training with St John Ambulance
Interactive road-safety games
Fire appliances to explore and learn about
An ice cream van
We would love to see as many people from our local community as possible.

With another heatwave this week the Wildfire Risk Map is VERY HIGH with midweek showing EXCEPTIONAL risk in parts of Somerset! This means wildfires 🔥 can start easily & spread rapidly.

Thank you to all our followers for sharing our messages, this helps protect your communities, the environment and our firefighters, as responding to any incidents in the heat is extremely challenging for them.

A drought has been declared across Devon and Somerset, and surrounding areas 🚨

Hot, dry conditions mean a higher risk of wildfires and increased pressure on water supplies.

We’re reducing non-essential water use, reviewing firefighting water supplies, and ensuring our wildfire resources – including water bowsers, 4x4s, ATVs and drones – are ready to respond.

Help to protect each other, and our countryside and water supplies, by:

🔥 Avoiding campfires and disposable BBQs
🍖 Staying with BBQs and fire pits
🚬 Never dropping lit ci******es on dry ground
💧 Using water wisely
