Geoff died from a cancer related illness in February 2017. His partner, with the support of Geoff's family and friends, decided that he would like others to enjoy the beautiful gardens and farmland around the house that they shared and loved for
many years. The two acre field, to the west of Court House, is now known as 'Geoff's Meadow' where young trees and wild flowers have been planted. It's a place of peace and quiet where those who need a little solitude can go and rest a while. Well Geoff was a botanist and his favourite plant was the wild British Geranium the Cranesbill or Herb Robert. So the charity was named after this humble little hedgerow plant that Geoff loved so much. We have now opened 2 Geranium Trust FREE Libraries. One by the gate of Court House, the other in the old red telephone box in Bridle Way, Barwick. All books are FREE, but if you wish to give a donation please do. We are now looking for others to open more Geranium Trust FREE Libraries. Could you have one by your gate? We organise Tea Parties at the home of our chairman, Court Barn, Court House, Stoford, Nr Yeovil. If you live in the Yeovil or the Sherborne area and suffer from loneliness or feel isolated, then get in touch to find out when the next one is. We have the 'Friends in the Garden' project. The Geranium Trust is surrounded by 25 acres of fields. Members of the community have started to a project to create community spaces that can then be used by other members of the community or be used to grow plants and food for others. How can you get involved? You can organise to come up and join in on a gardening day, or perhaps you could grow plants at home to be later planted onsite, we'd also like to meet people who have knowledge and skills around wildlife and conservation as well as woodworking. You don't have to be a gardener to get involved! The Geranium Trust also operates on Airbnb. If you have friends or family coming to stay, then why not check in at the Geranium Trusts lovely holiday cottage, but be quick, it books up very quickly. All proceeds go to the charity. Geoff's Meadow is a place for quiet thought and relaxing. If you have lost a loved one, be they a family member, friend or perhaps even a family pet, then let us know if you would like to plant a tree in the meadow in remembrance of them. The Geranium Trust has also runs events to support member of the LGBTQ+ community, through social events or just as a place to escape and talk to someone who may have shared experiences. This year we have also started to support leaners from Able2Achieve (A2A). A2A support vulnerable adults to gain personal achievements and progression and the learners who come to The Geranium Trust our heavily involved in the 'Friends of the Garden' Project.
