🌞 6 degrees cooler today than yesterday. Did anyone see the amazing lightning storm above the hill last night?

☕ The Visitor Centre and Café are back open today, and the air con is working in the café so it's nice and cool. Please continue to take care out in the sun with dogs as it is still pretty hot.

‼️Please note the Visitor Centre and Café will close:
Weds 24th - from 2pm
Thursday 25th - all day

🌞This is due to the extreme heat and for the safety of staff, volunteers and visitors. We will reopen on Friday as normal. We apologise for any inconvenience.

‼️The country park is still open but please take all necessary care when visiting during the current heatwave. Do not walk dogs in the full sun, BBQs are not permitted on Ham Hill.

🌞 Gosh it's hot...and it's only going to get hotter over the next couple of days. It can be pretty uncomfortable.
🐶 If you don't believe us put on a big thick coat and go and stand barefoot on some hot tarmac...it's not much fun right? That's what your dog is experiencing if you take them outside in the blazing sun.
‼️Be a responsible owner and walk your dogs first thing in the morning or late evening. We may refuse to serve you in the café if you bring a dog in during the heatwave. It is very warm inside the building.

‼️ Heatwave warning

🌞The next four days are going to be extremely hot. It will be between 31 and 36 degrees until Thursday evening. Please take care of yourselves during this heatwave.

🐶Please follow the advice from the RSPCA in relation to dogs. Do not walk your dogs in the country park or bring them to the Visitor Centre/Café during the high temperatures in the day time. Keep them cool and safe at home.

🐝 Right now in our gallery at the Visitor Centre you can find an exhibition by Fifty Bees CIC. This runs until Sun 5th July so do come and explore this wonderful local project.

Our volunteers have been busy this week. The Monday group worked on creating new steps leading down from the Monument, helping to improve access to the site. Meanwhile, the Wednesday group continued their efforts to clear wild mustard from both the Ramparts and Frying Pan area, helping to maintain and protect these important parts of the landscape.

We are delighted to have won one of the Countryside Access awards at the CPRE Somerset Love Your Countryside Awards.

CPRE (The Campaign to Protect Rural England) is a charity dedicated to protecting, promoting, and improving the countryside. They campaign for sustainable development, fight against harmful urban sprawl, and advocate for green spaces that are rich in nature and accessible to everyone.
