HAM HILL Country park

HAM HILL Country park Ham Hill - 427 acres of stunning country park. The new visitor centre and café are now open. The site is managed by South Somerset District Council.

Known for its golden hamstone quarries, being the home of the UK's largest Iron Age hillfort, and its many glorious walking routes. Ham Hill Country Park
Ham Hill is a 164 hectare (390 acres) country park centred on an Iron Age hillfort. There is extensive parking on site and plenty of open hilly landscape to explore. Ham Hill has peaceful, leafy woodlands and glades, grassy meadows, old quarry ar

⭐Back in August 2023 we put up special reptile fencing in some areas to protect our large population of slow worms while work was carried out to improve the footpaths and build the Visitor Centre. That fence was taken down earlier this year. Today Rachael from our team managed to get a lovely video of one of themem enjoying the sun.

⭐The common slow worm (Anguis fragilis) is a non-venomous species of legless lizard native to the UK.
