School Closure Announcement
Due to the exceptionally high temperatures, which are forecast for this week, Castle Primary School will be closed on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th of June. School will reopen on Friday 26th June 2026. Further updates will be emailed to parents.

21/06/2026

As per our message on Friday, there is an amber warning for extreme heat in the area. 🌞
Please ensure that children have suncream applied before coming to school and bring a hat and a bottle of cool water with them at the start of the day. Ties are not required, and children are encouraged to wear cooler uniform (such as shorts and a polo shirt or summer dresses), or a PE kit if you feel that would be more comfortable for them.
Please be reassured that we will not be taking children outside during the midday sunshine.

Further communication will be emailed out in the morning regarding dress up day and bikeability. 🎩🚴

Thank you for your support ☀️

⚠️A warning about the newest sensory toy craze - dumplings.⚠️

An important warning to parents ⚠️

Local authorities across the UK are issuing warnings about the safety of viral squishy dumpling toys, which have soared in popularity through unboxing videos on platforms including TikTok and YouTube.

The plush collectables, often sold in 'blind boxes', have seen a spike in counterfeit versions that fail to meet health and safety standards.

Trading Standards officers have raised concerns after uncovering toys with strong chemical odours, missing safety information, and inadequate labelling. Consumers are being advised to be wary of toys that give off powerful smells, leak fluid, appear suspiciously cheap, or lack proper safety markings such as CE or UKCA symbols.

The latest squishy dumpling toy phenomenon has captured the market with its surprise reveals and tactile, squeezable texture.

These collectables, which combine the thrill of mystery unboxing with the satisfaction of sensory fidget products, are produced by RMS and have sparked a collecting craze among children and collectors alike.

However, alongside their rising popularity come significant safety concerns. Some imitation versions have been found to contain hazardous chemicals and fail to comply with UK safety regulations.

Trading Standards officials are urging consumers to purchase from reputable stockists and ensure products conform to safety requirements.

Last week, we were incredibly proud to host our annual Dragons’ Den pitching afternoon!

Our enterprise teams did an outstanding job, successfully securing their investments (kindly sponsored by Focs Castle) after delivering confident and creative pitches.
The children impressed us all with their professionalism, enthusiasm, and innovative ideas. They listened carefully and responded brilliantly to feedback from our panel of “dragons”: Ayesha from AB Designs, Neil from West End Farm, and Jacob from Ham Hill Electrical Services.

Our dragons both challenged and supported the teams, offering valuable insights to help refine their ideas and set them on the path to making a healthy profit—we hope! 💡📈

A huge congratulations to all involved. We can’t wait to see how your businesses develop!
