This evening, crews will be attending a training exercise at Iceland in the Quedam Shopping Centre.

Please don’t be alarmed if you see several fire engines and crews in the area—this is a planned exercise and there is no cause for concern.

The hot, dry weather has led to a rise in outdoor fires, and we want to hear from you.

Have you, or someone you know, experienced a garden fire caused by a BBQ or fire pit? Your feedback will help us better understand the issue and shape our safety work.

And while conditions remain so dry, please think twice before lighting a BBQ, fire pit or other outdoor fire. It only takes one spark to start a wildfire.

A drought has been declared across Devon and Somerset, and surrounding areas 🚨

Hot, dry conditions mean a higher risk of wildfires and increased pressure on water supplies.

We’re reducing non-essential water use, reviewing firefighting water supplies, and ensuring our wildfire resources – including water bowsers, 4x4s, ATVs and drones – are ready to respond.

Help to protect each other, and our countryside and water supplies, by:

🔥 Avoiding campfires and disposable BBQs
🍖 Staying with BBQs and fire pits
🚬 Never dropping lit ci******es on dry ground
💧 Using water wisely

A huge thank you to The Fencing Centre Yeovil, Matt, and the entire team for your incredibly generous donation of tables and benches to both Yeovil and Martock Fire Stations. 🚒💚

Your support has helped us take another important step towards creating welcoming outdoor wellbeing spaces for our crews. These areas provide firefighters and staff with somewhere to relax, recharge during their shifts. Having access to a dedicated wellbeing garden can make a real difference to both physical and mental wellbeing, especially after attending challenging incidents.

We are extremely grateful for your kindness and community spirit, and it’s wonderful to see the furniture already being put to good use.
