Holy Trinity Church, Goodramgate, York Holy Trinity Church - a charming historic church in the heart of York The fifteenth century stained glass is also one of the church's wonders.

The historic Holy Trinity church in Goodramgate, York, stands secluded in its tranquil and leafy churchyard, hidden away from the busy city streets. Its fabric is mainly of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries and its seventeenth century box pews, all slighly askew, are a unique and intriguing feature. Holy Trinity was closed for regular worship in 1972 and is cared for by The Churches Conservation Trust, supported by a dedicated group of friends, supporters and volunteers.

Lovely article, but did you know we still have part of the altar cloth mentioned? It is framed to remind us of a lucky escape and a very brave visitor who intervened before the fire got worse and we put it out on display from time to time.

At the moment, we are working on preserving another piece of our heritage, the Goodramgate gate. If you would like to help with the campaign to save our main gate which has welcomed so many down the ages, please donate or contact [email protected].

Too early for Christmas? Maybe a little, but jingle those bells and grab the mistletoe because we have an invitation for you…

We will be decorating a tree for display as part of the York Minster Christmas Tree Festival and would like to be able to showcase some of the wonderful times you have had at Holy Trinity Goodramgate.

If you have a photo you have taken at Holy Trinity Goodramgate that you would like us to print out and put into a bauble for display, please add it to the comments or email it to [email protected]. The part of the image used will be a 7.5cm diameter circle. The first 10 suitable images received will be turned into baubles. Please enter only one image per person.

If you are visiting us between now and the start of November, you are welcome to prepare your bauble in person during your visit. We have pictures of Holy Trinity and craft supplies out to inspire you.

The Christmas trees will be on display in York Minster from 28 Nov 2026 to 05 Jan 2027. Full details are available on the York Minster website. In the unlikely event that there are too many baubles for the Minster tree, extras will be displayed in Holy Trinity Goodramgate.
