On this day in 1066, the Battle of Stamford Bridge raged, not far from York. The Stamford Bridge Tapestry, inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry, was created in 2015 to commemorate this event. The Friends of Dringhouses Library are delighted to welcome representatives from the Stamford Bridge Tapestry Project to Dringhouses Library on Thursday 8th October. Drop in all day to see full size facsimiles of the tapestry, then hear two talks on the history of the battle, and the creation of the tapestry, from 6.30pm. Explore York Archive
