Why not encourage them to continue their swimming journey at New Earswick pool with York Vikings Swimming Club who are a friendly, volunteer run club with swimmers from across the York area.

Formed from a merger of two long standing swim clubs, York Vikings offer competitive training and the chance to compete in local galas and at county, regional and national level.

Earlier this year we put out an appeal for volunteer fundraisers. Sadly nobody offered to help so we're repeating our appeal in the hope that some people come forward for this most important of roles.

Whats involved?

Between October-December the role involves finding raffle prizes and, in early December, selling raffle tickets at the pool for a couple of hours on a late afternoon or weekend and at the New Earswick Christmas Fayre.

Between May-August, the role involves helping to run a stall with another volunteer at local fetes/fayres in places like Haxby, Huntington, New Earswick. Typically this means setting up the stall and being there for about 4 hours one Saturday (or Sunday) a month.

All fundraising equipment (gazebo, prizes, float, card reader, pool leaflets etc) are provided and help is given with setting up.

This is a really important role, crucial to our ambitious plans for redevelopment.

Advanced warning that the pool is closed over the bank holiday weekend as we are carrying out some maintenance.

The pool will be closed Saturday 29 Aug and reopens Tuesday 1st. There will be no public swimming or lessons over the weekend.

We hope all of our swimmers and supporters have an enjoyable and relaxing weekend.

Don't be put off by the repairs taking place in front of the pool, there's been a gas leak but the pool is still open.

A reminder that our senior citizen swimming sessions continue every Friday morning 11.15-12.00.

It costs just £3.50 per swim. There's no membership fee, no joining fee, no contract to sign - it's just a simple pay-per-swim.

Announcing our recent lottery winners.
