Last night, our CWO and FS were asked to provide a colour party at Imphal Barracks Officer’s Mess, for the Battle of Britain Dinner Night. They did a smart job lowering the RAF Ensign during the sunset ceremony, during a perfectly timed flypast by an A400M Atlas (see the video in tile two!) On Sunday, we were pleased to join other Squadrons in the Wing at the Allied Air Forces Memorial Parade at Yorkshire Air Museum. It was poignant to remember the service and sacrifices of those who served across all the allied nations, many of whom were represented at the service. It was also great to meet the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, and Station Commander RAF Leeming who came to inspect the cadets following the parade. Cadet William Anthony Lain was a 110 (City of York) ATC cadet who tragically lost his life in an Air Experience Flight, 80 years ago on the 26th of July this year. He, and others in the AEF, were flying in a Wellington bomber, which unfortunately collided with a Spitfire above Appleton le Moors, in North Yorkshire.

It has become an annual tradition for cadets at 110 to tend to his grave around his anniversary and pay our respects, alongside the York RAFA branch, in a poignant tribute and ceremony to one of our cadets. This year, the boss, Flt Lt Keasley, led the service alongside Plt Off Eiles, where everyone marked a minute's silence and consequently laid a cross on the grave.

Teaching our younger cadets about the young life of 17 year old Cadet Lain is crucial and very important to us, and hence we are proud to continue this tradition year on year, honouring the life of one of us.

We will remember them.

£1090.32 raised for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance!!

What a fantastic achievement that we share with 2487 (Easingwold) Air Cadets!

Thank you to all who made this possible, giving the people of Yorkshire that extra help when the unforeseen may happen. You just may never know when you'll need the Air Ambulance!

We look forward to working with Kevin again next year and cannot be any more appreciative for the help and support he has given to both squadrons. He's a credit to the YAA!

RAFA COLLECTIONS ☀️

10 of our cadets joined the York RAFA in a fundraising effort on this very hot June morning. They raised a lot of money, engaged with the public, and had a great time whilst doing so!

Well done to those who helped volunteer their morning - it's great to see our squadron helping out our local RAFA where we can.

Can you build it without seeing it? 🤔

This week's STEM night challenged cadets to work back-to-back in pairs using MTA kits, with one cadet describing the build while the other brought it to life. The activity tested communication, teamwork and patience, leading to some impressive results!

A huge thank you to CI Pulleyn for delivering another successful and engaging evening.
