Last week, our team gathered in York for our twice‑yearly training and development day. We heard organisational updates, celebrated recent wins, and enjoyed excellent cybersecurity insights from speakers at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and North Yorkshire Police 🔐🛡️

With many of our staff working in a hybrid or fully remote pattern across the country, days like this are invaluable for strengthening connections and giving people the opportunity to meet face‑to‑face.

Sharing a short reel from the NYES Finance and Admin Conference, which took place a few weeks ago 🎬

Days like this are a great reminder of why it’s so valuable to occasionally swap the office (or home office💻) for getting out‑and‑about and speaking to people face‑to‑face. Events like this offer the perfect opportunity to connect with clients, gather feedback, and develop our ways of working so we can continue to offer the best possible service.

This week, everyone at Veritau will be doing the same as we come together in York for our company‑wide Training & Development Day. Held twice a year, it’s a great opportunity for colleagues to connect, hear key updates, and learn from some fantastic guest speakers we have lined up.

Last week, colleagues from our Information Governance and Internal Audit teams represented Veritau at the Investors In People (IIP) Celebration Event in Manchester 🎉

Charlotte and Andy joined delegates from a wide range of sectors, creating a brilliant opportunity for networking and valuable conversations.

The event focused on IIP’s latest white paper, The Trust Paradox, which explores how leaders and managers can build, strengthen, and sustain trust within organisations. The paper highlights how trust underpins high performance and supports teams through periods of change and uncertainty.

Attendees heard from keynote speakers, took part in a panel discussion, and celebrated organisations that have achieved or maintained their IIP accreditation.

Veritau has proudly held Investors in People accreditation since 2011, reflecting our long‑standing commitment to supporting our people.

A brilliant day in lovely Harrogate for the NYES Finance and Admin Conference - Summer 2026 ☀️

Despite a slightly wet start, we were all set up early and ready to welcome our wonderful clients.

Bianca, Ruby and Rosie from our Schools DPO team kicked off the morning with an insightful session on the Freedom of Information Act 💡

We got to catch-up with some of our clients and discussed all things Veritau Learn, compliance reviews, and our SAR Redaction Service.

Councils combat Blue Badge misuse as part of National Blue Badge Awareness Week ♿

A record number of our member councils took part in a Day of Action, joining local authorities across the country to crack down on Blue Badge misuse during National Blue Badge Awareness Week.

City of York Council, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, Middlesbrough Council and Leicester City Council took part on 14 May, with North Yorkshire Council participating on 15 May. During the exercise, enforcement officers carried out on-street checks across multiple locations.

Across the two days a total of 365 badges were checked. Penalty charge notices were issued to 16 drivers, and 12 instances of misuse are now under investigation by Veritau’s counter-fraud team.
