Could you donate the cost of your next coffee to support women in York?

We’re launching Kyra’s Community Coffee Campaign, and we’d love our local community to get behind it.

For around £2–£5 (roughly the cost of a coffee) you can help us continue providing a safe and welcoming space for women experiencing mental health challenges, domestic abuse, loneliness and isolation, bereavement, unemployment and other major life difficulties.

Donations help us provide everything from courses and workshops to one-to-one counselling and opportunities for women to connect with others.

£500 can help fund 10 sessions of one-to-one counselling, while other donations contribute towards workshops supporting women recovering from trauma and domestic abuse.

So, if you’re able to spare the cost of a coffee, we’d be incredibly grateful. And if you can’t donate, sharing this post with friends, family or colleagues helps too.

A coffee to you. A lifeline for her.

A huge thank you from everyone at Kyra!

We’ve been absolutely blown away by the support for our Aviva Community Fund campaign so far.

Thanks to your donations, we’ve already raised over £2,000 to help women in York experiencing financial hardship and food insecurity.

We also want to say a massive thank you to Aviva for giving us this opportunity and for supporting Kyra to reach even more people with our campaign!

The money raised will help us provide foodbank vouchers and one-to-one support, alongside helping women access specialist financial advice and longer-term support to build their financial resilience.

We’ve made an amazing start, but we’ve still got a way to go – and every donation and share genuinely helps us get closer to our target.

If you’ve already donated or shared our campaign, thank you so much. And if you haven’t yet, there’s still plenty of time to get involved!

We’ve got some exciting news: Kyra’s new crowdfunding campaign is now LIVE!

We’re raising money through the Aviva Foundation’s Community Fund to help us continue supporting women in York to build their financial resilience, confidence and independence.

Money raised will help us provide foodbank vouchers, one-to-one support to understand each woman’s individual needs, and supported referrals to specialist financial advice services.

Every donation, big or small, will make a difference. And if you’re not able to donate, sharing our campaign helps enormously too!

A huge thank you to York's Chocolate Story for their continued support of Kyra!

We’re so grateful to be one of their Charities of the Year, and they’ve been incredibly generous to our members – from donating plenty of delicious chocolate, to giving us free tickets, and even welcoming our members for free tours and chocolate-making masterclasses!

These lovely opportunities give our members the chance to try something new, have fun together and enjoy experiences around York that might otherwise be out of reach.

A massive thank you to the whole York's Chocolate Story team for continuing to support Kyra and our members, we really appreciate it!

A huge thank you to all of the members who have made Member’s Week 2026 happen!

This week, we handed over some of Kyra’s timetable to our members, giving them the chance to plan and lead their own sessions for other women at Kyra.

We’ve had denim bag making, mindful nature watercolours, found poetry collaging, air dry clay, lavender bag sewing and slow stitching for wellbeing; all led by members sharing their own skills and interests.

Member’s Week is a chance for members to try something different, build confidence in leading a session, and share skills and hobbies with other women. It’s also been a great opportunity for everyone else to have a go at activities they might not otherwise have tried!

A massive thank you to everyone who put themselves forward to run something, and to all the members who came along and got involved.

Here are a few photos from the lovely Mindful Nature Watercolours session earlier this week!

Kyra members recently had the opportunity to take part in a special artist-led textiles workshop at York Art Gallery, in partnership with York Museum Trust.

Together, members began creating a collaborative textile artwork that will eventually be displayed as part of an upcoming exhibition at the Gallery.

Guided by professional artists, everyone had the chance to experiment with different techniques, get creative, and contribute to a shared piece of art.

A huge thank you to York Museums Trust and all the brilliant artists for such a welcoming and inspiring session! We can't wait to see the finished artwork on display!
