TRAFFIC ALERT: Balthazar Bridge Closure ๐Ÿšง

Starting Monday, September 7, 2026, the Balthazar Bridge in St. Andrew will be closed to all vehicular traffic until further notice for restoration works by the Grenada Resilience Improvement Project..

Alternative Routes:
โ€ข St. Georgeโ€™s to Grenville: Turn right onto Upper Capitol, through St. James, and exit at Gran Bras.
โ€ข Grenville to Birchgrove: Turn right onto St. Cloud Public Road, through Byelands, and exit at La Force.
โ€ข Zone 6 Buses can use both diversion routes.

โš ๏ธ Heavy machinery is restricted from the diversions and must use the Eastern Main Road.

The Traffic Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) hereby notifies the general public, particularly motorists, that Balthazar Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic from ๐Œ๐จ๐ง๐๐š๐ฒ, ๐Ÿ•๐ญ๐ก ๐’๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ” ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ ๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ž.

This closure is necessary to facilitate the restoration of the bridge undertaken by Grenada Resilience Improvement Project.

To facilitate this closure, the following traffic arrangements will be implemented:

โ€ข All vehicles travelling from St. Georgeโ€™s towards the direction of Grenville will make a right turn unto Upper Capitol, through St. James and exit unto Gran Bras Public Road

โ€ข All vehicles travelling from Grenville towards Birchgrove direction will make a right turn unto St. Cloud Public Road through Byelands and exit unto La Force.

โ€ขZone 6 bus operators will be allowed to use both diversion routes to and from Grenville.

๐๐:Heavy equipment vehicles and machinery are restricted from passing through the alternative routes and are advised to use the Eastern Main Road.

All motorists are asked to follow all posted signs and the directions of on duty traffic wardens.

The Royal Grenada Police Force apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and anticipates the cooperation and compliance of all road users.

๐Ÿ“ข TRAFFIC ADVISORY: New Roundabout Construction at Vendomme/Constantine Junction.

To facilitate the safe construction of a new roundabout, the Ministry of Infrastructure, in partnership with the Traffic Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force, announces temporary traffic changes starting TOMORROW, Friday, 4th September 2026.

Key Adjustments:
* One-Way Traffic: Vendomme Public Road will be one-way toward Grand Etang Main Road.
* No Entry: Vehicles heading from Grand Etang toward St. George must detour left onto Boca Public Road and exit onto Beaulieu Public Road.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Honourable Dickon Mitchell joined Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Hon. Tevin Andrews, along with residents of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, for the official opening of the Windward Jetty.

The completion of this important infrastructure project marks a significant milestone for the sister islands, enhancing maritime access, improving connectivity, and supporting economic and social development. The Windward Jetty is expected to provide safer and more efficient transportation for residents, fishermen, businesses and visitors, while strengthening the resilience of the community.

Addressing those gathered for the occasion, Prime Minister Mitchell highlighted the Government's commitment to investing in critical infrastructure that improves the quality of life for citizens and creates opportunities for sustainable growth. The ceremony was celebrated as a testament to collaboration, progress, and the shared vision for the continued development of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
