UN Georgia Georgia joined the United Nations on 31 July 1992, shortly after the country became independent.

The United Nations system in Georgia is a unique set of diverse institutions –funds, programs and specialized agencies– united by common vision for the development of Georgia and empowerment of its people. In the span of last 33 years, the United Nations has very much been part of Georgia’s history and development. Working closely with the government of Georgia, civil society, and other national a

nd international partners, the UN works to respond to national development needs and improve the economic and social conditions of people in Georgia. Within its mandate to support Georgia to achieve its national priorities, the United Nations is providing tailor-made support to address the issues of sustainable human development while also supporting the national priority goal of European Integration. UN’s support covers a diverse range of areas, including economic well-being, health, human rights, education, agriculture, industry, environmental protection, gender equality, effective governance and the rule of law. In the crisis areas, UN stands with people who suffer from crises and need help in relief and recovery. ვაგრძელებთ 2025 წლის ანგარიშის სერიას

ახალგაზრდების, ქალებისა და ფერმერების მხარდაჭერიდან უნარების და პროფესიული გადამზადების მიმართულებით, ქალთა ეკონომიკური გაძლიერების და მდგრადი სოფლის მეურნეობის ხელშეწყობამდე, გაერო 2025 წელს აგრძელებდა მუშაობას საქართველოში უფრო ინკლუზიური და მდგრადი ეკონომიკის განვითარებისთვის.

💻 🧑‍🦽 The digital space creates important opportunities for young people in education, communication and development. However, the online environment is also associated with challenges such as cyberbullying, violence and personal data security — especially for young people with disabilities, who often face additional risks.

🇪🇺 🇺🇳 That is why, with the support of the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN), the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has launched a series of trainings. The goal is to increase the knowledge of young people with disabilities, their parents and supporters.

🆘 🧑‍🦼 Participants will learn safe online behavior, principles of digital security, and ways to prevent online violence.

🇬🇪 👇 The trainings started in Tbilisi and will gradually be held in Gori, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Sachkhere, Telavi and Batumi — so that more young people can gain knowledge and feel safe and confident in the digital world.

In Poti, UN Resident Coordinator Didier Trebucq, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Gareth Ward, Ambassador of Swiss Confederation Heidi Grau and Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Ahmed Alnuaimi visited APM Terminals Poti • ეიპიემ ტერმინალს ფოთი to learn more about the port’s role in strengthening Georgia’s connectivity and trade within the Middle Corridor.

The discussion focused on opportunities for sustainable and inclusive growth in the maritime and logistics sector, including green transition, innovation, skills development and women’s participation.

Through its "Greening the Future" initiative, UNDP is partnering with APM Terminals to support greener and more resilient transport and logistics systems: from sustainable port development and skills-building to youth innovation and women’s empowerment in the maritime sector.

მათ განიხილეს პროფესიული გადამზადება და სამუშაო, ახალგაზრდების საჭიროებები, გარემოს დაცვა და თუ როგორ უწყობს ქალაქი ხელს მდგრადი განვითარების მიზნების (SDGs) ადგილობრივ დონეზე განხორციელებას.

In Poti, the UN Resident Coordinator Didier Trebucq, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Gareth Ward, Ambassador of Swiss Confederation Heidi Grau and Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Ahmed Alnuaimi met with Mayor Beka Vacharadze, local stakeholders and young people at Youth Innovation Centre.

They discussed vocational training and jobs, youth needs, environmental protection and how the city is advancing the Sustainable Development Goals at the local level.

The conversation also highlighted Poti’s progress in SDG localization, community participation and youth engagement. Poti received international recognition, including the LivCom Gold Award for citizen-centred sustainable governance.

Together, we continue supporting municipalities in building more sustainable, inclusive and resilient communities across Georgia. Thank you, Mayor and Poti City Hall, for a warm welcome.

🌱ფოთის აეროლოგიურ სადგურში ვიზიტის ფარგლებში, გავეცანით საქართველოს პირველ, მსოფლიო მეტეოროლოგიური ორგანიზაციის (WMO) სტანდარტების შესაბამის ატმოსფერული მონიტორინგის სისტემას, რომელიც აძლიერებს კლიმატის მონიტორინგს, ამინდის პროგნოზირებასა და ადრეული გაფრთხილების სისტემებს.

🎈დავესწარით წყალბადით შევსებულ მეტეოროლოგიურ ბუშტებზე დამაგრებული რადიოზონდების გაშვებას, რომლებიც ატმოსფერულ მონაცემებს აგროვებს მიწის ზედაპირიდან დაახლოებით 30 კმ სიმაღლემდე. სისტემა აღრიცხავს ტემპერატურას, ტენიანობას, ატმოსფერულ წნევას, ქარის სიჩქარეს და მიმართულებას და მონაცემებს რეალურ დროში გადასცემს სახმელეთო მიმღებ სადგურებს.

🟢 ასევე შევხვდით ახალგაზრდებს, რომლებიც გარემოს მონიტორინგში არიან ჩართული გაეროს განვითარების პროგრამის (UNDP) ინიციატივის “Greening the Future” ფარგლებში. მათ გვაჩვენეს მობილური სენსორები, რომლებსაც იყენებენ წყლის, ჰაერის, ხმაურისა და დაბინძურების მონიტორინგისთვის.

🌱 During the visit to the Poti Aerological Station, we learned about Georgia’s first World Meteorological Organization-standard atmospheric monitoring system, strengthening climate monitoring, weather forecasting and early warning systems.

🎈We witnessed the launch of radiosondes attached to hydrogen-filled meteorological balloons, collecting atmospheric data from ground level to altitudes of up to 30 km. The system records temperature, humidity, pressure, wind speed and direction, transmitting real-time data to ground stations.

🟢 We also met youth engaged in environmental monitoring through the UNDP Georgia initiative “Greening the Future”. They showed us mobile sensors that they use to monitor water, air, sound and pollution.

ქუთაისში სამუშაო ვიზიტის ფარგლებში, გაეროს მუდმივი კოორდინატორი დიდიე ტღებიუკი, დიდი ბრიტანეთისა და ჩრდილოეთ ირლანდიის გაერთიანებული სამეფოს ელჩი გარეტ უორდი, შვეიცარიის კონფედერაციის ელჩი ჰაიდი გრაუ და არაბთა გაერთიანებული საამიროების ელჩი აჰმედ ალნუაიმი შეხვდნენ იმერეთის, რაჭა-ლეჩხუმისა და ქვემო სვანეთის რეგიონების სამოქალაქო საზოგადოების ორგანიზაციების წარმომადგენლებს, რათა გვესაუბრა ადგილობრივ პრიორიტეტებზე, გამოწვევებზე და საქართველოში სამოქალაქო ჩართულობის შესაძლებლობებზე.

დისკუსიის ფარგლებში ყურადღება გამახვილდა გაეროს ერთობლივი ინიციატივის როლზე, რომელიც ადგილობრივი დიალოგის პლატფორმების მეშვეობით ხელს უწყობს საზოგადოების ჩართულობას და ადგილობრივ საჭიროებებზე დაფუძნებულ განვითარებას.

სამოქალაქო საზოგადოების ორგანიზაციების წარმომადგენლებმა ადგილზე მუშაობის გამოცდილება გაგვიზიარეს: რა გამოწვევების წინაშე დგანან სოფელში მცხოვრები სოციალურად დაუცველი ქალები და შეზღუდული შესაძლებლობის მქონე პირები, დასაქმების კუთხით არსებული სირთულეები და როგორ ეხმარებიან მშობლებს ახალი პროფესიული უნარების შეძენაში.

ასევე ისაუბრეს, თუ როგორ უწყობს ხელს პარტნიორობა და ინკლუზიური დიალოგი ნდობის გაძლიერებას და მედეგობის ზრდას.

პარტნიორებთან ერთად, ვაგრძელებთ მუშაობას სამოქალაქო ჩართულობის მხარდასაჭერად და იმის უზრუნველსაყოფად, რომ ადგილობრივი ხმები მდგრადი განვითარების პროცესის განუყოფელი ნაწილი იყოს.

During the field visit to Kutaisi, the UN Resident Coordinator Didier Trebucq, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Gareth Ward, Ambassador of Swiss Confederation Heidi Grau and Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Ahmed Alnuaimi met with civil society organizations from Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions to learn about local priorities, challenges and opportunities for civic engagement in Georgia.

The discussion highlighted the role of the UN Joint Initiative in supporting community participation and locally driven development through Local Dialogue Platforms.

Representatives of civil society organizations shared experiences from their work on the ground: what socially vulnerable women in rural areas and people with disabilities face, employment challenges, how they help parents to acquire skills for new professions. They also reflected on how partnerships and inclusive dialogue can help strengthen trust and resilience.

Together with partners, we continue working to support civic engagement and ensure that local voices help shape sustainable development across Georgia.

დღეს გაეროს მუდმივი კოორდინატორი დიდიე ტღებიუკი შეხვდა საქართველოს განათლების, მეცნიერებისა და ახალგაზრდობის სამინისტრო მინისტრს გივი მიქანაძეს და მინისტრის მოადგილეს ბაია კვიციანს, რათა განეხილათ მიმდინარე საგანმანათლებლო რეფორმა და გამოეკვეთათ თანამშრომლობის შესაძლო მიმართულებები გაეროს თანამშრომლობის დოკუმენტის 2026–2030 ფარგლებში.

შეხვედრაზე დადასტურდა გაეროს ქვეყნის გუნდის და განათლების, მეცნიერებისა და ახალგაზრდობის სამინისტროს შორის არსებული წარმატებული თანამშრომლობა. მონაწილეებმა იმსჯელეს სამინისტროსთან გაეროს თანამშრომლობის გაფართოების შესაძლებლობებზე, მათ შორის პროფესიული განათლებისა და უნარების განვითარების, ახალგაზრდული პოლიტიკის, ხარისხიანი და ინკლუზიური განათლების, ადამიანის უფლებების შესახებ განათლების, მწვანე და ციფრული უნარების განვითარების, ასევე განათლებისა და პროფესიული მომზადების შრომის ბაზრის საჭიროებებთან მეტად შესაბამისობაში მოყვანის მიმართულებით.

Today, the UN Resident Coordinator Didier Trebucq met with the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Givi Mikanadze and Deputy Minister Baia Kvitsiani to discuss the ongoing education reform and identify potential areas of cooperation within the 2026–2030 UN Cooperation Framework.

The meeting confirmed the good cooperation between the UN Country Team and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth. The participants explored areas for expanding UN collaboration with the Ministry, including vocational education and skills development, youth policy, quality and inclusive education, human rights education, green and digital skills development, and stronger alignment of education and training with labor market needs.

🤝 გაეროს წლიური ანგარიში 2025

2025 წელი მნიშვნელოვანი ეტაპი აღმოჩნდა გაეროსთვის საქართველოში. დასრულდა თანამშრომლობის სრული ციკლი 2021–2025 წლების ფარგლებში, და პარალელურად განისაზღვრა მომდევნო წლების ხედვა ახალი თანამშრომლობის დოკუმენტით 2026–2030.

გასული წლის განმავლობაში ჩვენ ვიმუშავეთ პარტნიორებთან ქვეყნის მასშტაბით: როგორც სახელმწიფო უწყებებთან და მუნიციპალიტეტებთან, ისე სამოქალაქო საზოგადოებასთან, აკადემიურ წრეებთან და კერძო სექტორთან. ამ თანამშრომლობამ მნიშვნელოვანი წვლილი შეიტანა საქართველოს გრძელვადიანი განვითარების მხარდაჭერაში.

2025 წელი ერთდროულად პროგრესის და გამოწვევების წელი იყო. ქვეყანა მოქმედებდა რთულ და მუდმივად ცვალებად რეგიონულ და პოლიტიკურ გარემოში. ამ პროცესში ერთ-ერთ მთავარ მოვლენად დარჩა 2026–2030 წლების ახალი თანამშრომლობის დოკუმენტის ხელმოწერა.

🤝 We are launching the UN Georgia Annual Report 2025

2025 was a milestone year for the United Nations in Georgia. We wrapped up a full cycle of cooperation under the 2021–2025 framework, while also setting the course for the years ahead with a new Cooperation Framework for 2026–2030.

Over the year, we worked closely with partners across the country: from government institutions and municipalities to civil society, academia and the private sector, all contributing to Georgia’s long-term development.

It was a year of both progress and challenges, shaped by a shifting regional and political context. One of the key milestones was the signing of the new Cooperation Framework for 2026–2030.
