GSFP National Coordinator Engages Regional Coordinators

The National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) Hajia Fati Forgor has engaged all the 16 Regional Coordinators of the Programme in a meeting yesterday

The meeting held in Accra was aimed at strengthening coordination, professionalism and effective implementation of the Programme at all levels.

Addressing the meeting, the National Coordinator urged the Regional Coordinators to ensure the early submission of accurate and timely data to the National Secretariat so as to facilitate the various departments and Units of the programme including Operations, Accounts and Monitoring and Evaluation make effective planning and decision-making.

Hajia Fati further urged the Regional Coordinators to demonstrate strict adherence to due process and established procedures in the discharge of their duties. She noted that professionalism, competence and accountability were essential to the successful implementation of the Programme.

The National Coordinator commended the Regional Coordinators for their maximum cooperation and commitment towards the work of the Programme. She, however, challenged them to work collectively to change the narrative surrounding the GSFP by demonstrating high levels of professionalism, competence and integrity, thereby elevating their respective offices and conducting their duties with dignity.

She assured the Regional Coordinators of the commitment of the National Secretariat to providing the necessary support and doing everything possible, within the acceptable framework and guidelines of the Programme, to ensure their collective success in the implementation of the GSFP.

The Programme’s Director of Accounts also took the Regional Coordinators through financial management and how to properly and accurately retire their financial obligations with the Accounts Unit.

The meeting unequivocally demonstrates the commitment of the managers of the GSFP to ensure that the reset agenda is impacting positively in all facets of the programme including its regional offices and all decentralised structures.

GSFP ENGAGES FACILITATORS ON REVIEW OF POLICY DOCUMENT

A team from the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has held a meeting with the facilitators supporting the review of the Programme’s Policy Document.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the facilitators to brief the GSFP team on progress made so far and share key areas emerging from the review. The GSFP team, in turn, provided inputs and highlighted key issues and priorities it would like to see incorporated into the revised policy document.

Addressing the meeting in Accra, the GSFP National Coordinator Hajia Fati Forgor reiterated her commitment to strengthening the implementation of the programme. She said so far, the programme is witnessing significant improvement in the delivery of its core mandate to the beneficiary pupils and stakeholders.

Hajia Fati also underscored the significance of the policy document. She said as part of efforts to reset the GSFP, her outfit would
collaborate closely with the relevant stakeholders to ensure the policy review comes to fruition which would eventually inure to the progress and sustainability of the GSFP.

The National Coordinator once again commended the World Food Programme for their invaluable support for the policy review in particular and their technical assistance to the Programme in general.

The engagement formed part of efforts to ensure that the reviewed policy reflects the current realities, priorities and future direction of the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

Inputs emanating from the GSFP team and the facilitators would be consolidated and submitted to the Consultant working on the review for incorporation into the Policy document

GSFP Holds Workshop to Review Policy Document
**************************************

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has held a workshop to review a policy document currently being revised by a consultant with support from the World Food Programme (WFP).

Opening the workshop, the National Coordinator of the GSFP Hajia Fati Forgor urged participants to feel free to express their views and make constructive inputs, stressing that their practical experience and knowledge of the Programme were essential to strengthening the policy document.

The workshop which was held in Accra provided an opportunity for participants to critically examine the policy document, identify gaps, and make relevant technical inputs based on their professional experience and practical knowledge of the organisation’s operations.

Notably, a section of the staff who participated in the workshop had the privilege of contributing to the development of the policy document when it was originally drafted in 2015. Their institutional knowledge and experience provided valuable historical perspectives that enriched the discussions and review process.

The outcome of the workshop, including the comments, observations and recommendations from participants, will be collated and submitted to the consultant to inform and guide the review and revision of the policy document.

The GSFP Policy envisages a well organised, decentralised intervention providing disadvantaged school children with nutritionally adequate, locally produced food.

The policy also envisions poverty reduction, improved household incomes and strengthen local economic development

GENDER MINISTER, GSFP NATIONAL COORDINATOR ET AL. TOUR GREATER ACCRA CATERER TRAINING CENTRES

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, together with the National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), Hajia Fati Forgor, and management members of the Programme, on Friday, July 31, 2026, toured selected caterer training centres in the Greater Accra Region as part of the ongoing nationwide nutrition training for GSFP caterers and cooks.

With support from the World Bank, the nutrition training is designed to strengthen the capacity of GSFP caterers by equipping them with practical skills in nutrition, food safety, hygiene and quality meal preparation to enhance the health and wellbeing of beneficiary pupils.

During the tour, the Minister and the GSFP management interacted with participants and facilitators and observed practical training sessions to assess the progress of the exercise.

At the AMA, one of training centres, the Mayor of Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, joined the Minister, GSFP National Coordinator and her team to have a taste of the food prepared by the caterers based on the training they received.

Dr. Naa Momo Lartey expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm and commitment demonstrated by the caterers and urged them to put the knowledge gained into practice by consistently serving nutritious, safe and quality meals to pupils under the Programme.

Hajia Fati Forgor, on her part, commended the caterers for embracing the opportunity to improve their skills and thanked the World Bank for its continued support towards strengthening the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

The nationwide training forms part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of meals served in public basic schools and promote better nutrition among beneficiary pupils across the country.

Partners Meet to Deepen Collaboration and Explore New Opportunities

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has held a meeting with a section of its development and implementing partners to strengthen collaboration, review ongoing initiatives, and explore new opportunities to enhance the effective delivery of the Programme.

The meeting held Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at the National Secretariat of the Ghana School Feeding Programme in Accra provided a platform for partners to share ideas, discuss areas of mutual interest, and identify innovative approaches to improving school feeding across the country.

Addressing partners at the meeting, the National Coordinator of the GSFP, Hajia Fati Forgor expressed appreciation to all the partners for their support. She said her office is always open and ready to provide information and data partners needed to aid them in their decision making on the type of support and potential areas of intervention.

Hajia Fati Forgor said the GSFP has grown over the years to be one of the major social interventions in the country and as such requires multidimensional approach in realising its core objectives of increasing enrolment, retention, attendance, reducing hunger and boosting domestic food production. The National Coordinator also underscored the significance of continued support and collaboration from the partners for the sustainability and smooth implementation of the programme.

World Bank Supports GSFP With Nationwide Nutrition Training For Caterers.

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has commenced a nationwide rollout of nutrition training for caterers and cooks serving beneficiary pupils of the programme.

The nutrition training was part of the World Bank's support for GSFP to equip its service providers (caterers) with the requisite skills in providing nutritious, safe and quality meals to beneficiary pupils.

The GSFP's National Coordinator Hajia Fati Forgor who monitored the rollout of the project in Kumasi on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 expressed her satisfaction with the overall arrangement and the level of knowledge being acquired by the trainees.

Hajia Fati Forgor urged the caterers to take the training seriously and ensure that they bring the skills gained from the training to bear on the quality of meals they serve. She commended the caterers for availing themselves for the training, their commitment, zeal and enthusiasm to learn new trends in standard cooking

The National Coordinator lauded the World Bank for their support and vowed that her outfit would ensure that the children benefit from the training by enjoying nutritious meals to improve their health status.
