Last week, the Ghana Health Service concluded the validation of two key national Standard Operating Procedures: the National Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC) Standard Operating Procedures and the National Public Health Workforce Surge Standard Operating Procedures (WS-SOPs). The exercise, convened through the National PHEOC with support from KOICA Ghana Office , US CDC and other key stakeholders, focused on ensuring that the procedures are practical, coordinated and aligned with national and international standards.
Once finalised, the documents will provide a standardised framework for activating and managing emergency operations, coordinating response efforts, escalating emergencies, rapidly mobilising and deploying public health personnel, ensuring staff welfare, and demobilising response teams.
Together, these documents will strengthen operational efficiency, accountability and coordination across Ghana’s public health emergency management system.
