MDPI Engages Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment Relations on National Productivity Framework

The Management Development and Productivity Institute (MDPI) has held a strategic stakeholder engagement with the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment Relations (MLJER) as part of its ongoing nationwide consultations towards the development and implementation of Ghana's National Productivity Framework (GNPF).
The engagement provided a platform for both institutions to discuss the critical role of productivity in accelerating economic growth, improving public sector performance, enhancing workforce efficiency, and promoting sustainable national development. Deliberations also focused on strengthening collaboration to ensure that productivity becomes an integral component of labour, employment, and workplace policies across the country.
Addressing participants, the Director-General of MDPI, Prof. Elijah Yendaw, emphasized that productivity remains the cornerstone of national competitiveness and economic transformation. He noted that the National Productivity Framework is being developed to establish a coordinated and evidence-based system for measuring, monitoring, and improving productivity across all sectors of the economy.
Prof. Yendaw underscored the importance of institutional collaboration, stressing that the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment Relations is a key strategic partner in advancing Ghana's productivity agenda through policies that promote decent work, workforce development, industrial harmony, innovation, and improved organizational performance.
Officials of the Ministry welcomed the initiative and commended MDPI for leading the development of a comprehensive national framework to drive productivity improvement. They reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to working closely with MDPI to integrate productivity enhancement into labour and employment policies, skills development programmes, workplace practices, and broader national development strategies.
The meeting forms part of MDPI's broader nationwide stakeholder consultation exercise, which seeks to engage key government institutions, the private sector, academia, organized labour, development partners, and civil society in shaping a robust and inclusive National Productivity Framework. The consultative process is expected to build consensus, strengthen stakeholder ownership, and pave the way for the successful rollout and implementation of the Framework, positioning productivity at the heart of Ghana's national development agenda.
