FAMILIARIZATION VISIT BY THE CHIEF DIRECTOR OF THE GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL COORDINATING COUNCIL
The Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, 22nd July 2026, had the honour of hosting the Chief Director of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, Rev. Harry Nii Kwatei Owoo, as part of his familiarization tour of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
The visit was received by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Rudolph Collingwood-Williams, the Municipal Director, Mr. Ishmael Nana Ogyefo, and staff of the various departments of the Assembly.
During the engagement, Rev. Harry Nii Kwatei Owoo encouraged management and staff to work together towards the growth and development of the Assembly. He also shared valuable advice on effective public service delivery and reminded workers of the responsibilities attached to their employment.
He highlighted five key principles that every public servant should uphold: Purpose, Punctuality, Productivity, Professionalism, and Performance. According to him, these principles are essential in helping staff understand why they have been employed and how they can contribute meaningfully to the progress of the Assembly and the nation at large.

Flood Relief and Inspection Visit to Affected Communities in Ayawaso Central Municipality

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, paid a working visit to the flood-affected communities of Alajo and surrounding areas within the Ayawaso Central Municipality to assess the impact of the recent flooding and interact with affected residents. The visit formed part of the Government’s commitment to supporting victims and coordinating relief efforts.

The Minister was joined by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo; the head of National Disaster Managetment Organisation (NADMO) Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central, Abdul Rauf Tongym Tubazu; the Municipal Chief Executive, Rudolf Collingwoode-Williams; the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Ismael Nana Ogyefo; Heads of Department, Assembly staff, NADMO officials, and other stakeholders.

As part of the relief intervention, 1,000 blankets, bags of rice, buckets, cups, and bowls were presented to affected households to provide immediate support and bring comfort to families impacted by the disaster.

The Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly expresses its sincere appreciation to the Government, emergency response agencies, development partners, and all individuals who contributed to the relief efforts. Together, we remain committed to supporting affected residents and strengthening disaster preparedness and resilience across the municipality.

Flood Incident Assessment – Ayawaso Central Municipality

Following the heavy rainfall on 29th June 2026, an assessment was conducted in the affected communities of Alajo, Nkasadjan, Ayidiki, and Central to evaluate the extent of the damage.

The flooding affected hundreds of households, damaged homes, businesses, and public infrastructure, and sadly claimed three lives in Alajo. The visit provided an opportunity to engage affected residents, assess their immediate needs, and identify interventions to strengthen flood resilience.

Our thoughts are with the bereaved families and everyone affected by this disaster. We remain committed to working with all relevant stakeholders to support affected communities, improve drainage infrastructure, promote environmental sanitation, and reduce the risk of future flooding.

The Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development (MLGDRD), and other stakeholders, embarked on a coaching exercise in ten (10) regions targeting fifty-one (51) newly selected Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country.

The exercise is supported by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) to implement Integrated Social Services and ensure a holistic service delivery mechanism.

The coaching exercise took place at the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly from 15th to 17th June 2026.

The purpose of the exercise was to strengthen participants’ knowledge of Child Protection Community Facilitation Toolkits and their application in promoting child welfare and community development.

The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, led a monitoring and evaluation exercise to Ayawaso central Municipal Assembly within the Greater Accra Region on 10th June 2026. The exercise formed part of the Ministry’s efforts to assess the utilisation of funds disbursed to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

The Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly, through the Social Welfare Department, successfully disbursed the PWD Fund to beneficiaries within the municipality. This initiative is aimed at improving lives and promoting self-reliance. Together, we can build a more inclusive society. 🇬🇭

On Monday, 18th May 2026, the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly carried out a demolition exercise at the Mallam Attah Market to pave way for the upgrade of the clinic into a modern four-storey hospital. The exercise was conducted by the task force of the Municipal Assembly with support from personnel of the National Security.

HANDOVER OF EQUIPMENTS TO MASTER CRAFT PERSONS AND APPRENTICES

The National Youth Authority Unit of the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly on 11th May 2026 organized a Handover ceremony of Equipment to Master Craft Persons and Apprentices under the National Apprenticeship Program.

Present at the ceremony was the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso central Hon. Abdul Rauf Tubazo, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Rudolf Collingwoode-Williams, the Greater Accra Regional Coordinator for the National Apprenticeship Program Mr. Jones Klutse, the Coordinating Director Mr. Ismael Nana Ogyefo, Unit Head for the National Youth Authority Madam Mary Kailey Marnah and other Heads of Department and Units.

A total number of Twenty-Five apprentice were trained by Four Trainers, with each Trainer training five apprentice each.

The presentations were done by the Member of Parliament Hon Tubazo with assistance from the M.C.E Hon Rudolph.

Twenty pieces of sewing machines were presented to the apprentices and four pieces of Industrial Machines were presented to Trainers.

The Beneficiaries thanked the Government through the MP and the Municipal Chief Executive, adding it will improve their livelihoods, and the Trainers also promised to train more apprentices in future with the help of the Industrial Machines they received.🇧🇴
