From Kpando to the Continent ….. A Win Worth Celebrating 🇬🇭

It started with talent, discipline, and a bold idea, …. and it ended with Ghana on top.

CTVET has proudly honoured Kpando Technical Institute for emerging winners in the Mobile Application Development category at the Africa Tech Challenge (ATC) Season X, 2025.

Representing Ghana on the continental stage, Junguli Issabella, Tettey Godwin, and Ahiakor Abraham Mawulolo delivered an outstanding performance to secure first place. Ahiakor went a step further, earning recognition as the overall best student in the category.

At a ceremony held on 14th May 2026, the Director-General of CTVET, Mr. Zakaria Sulemana, commended the team for showcasing the power of technical skills, innovation, and determination.

The journey took them to Nairobi, Kenya, where they competed against some of Africa’s brightest young minds, undergoing weeks of rigorous training in digital design, fabrication, and precision engineering.

This is more than a win….. it’s a statement.

Ghana’s TVET is rising, and our young innovators are ready for the world.

CTVET ENGAGES SECTOR SKILLS BODIES TO STRENGTHEN TVET INDUSTRY COLLABORATION

The Deputy Director-General of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), Mr. Anthony Seyram Kwame Zu, representing the Director-General, on Monday, 11th May 2026, led the management of CTVET to engage the leadership of the Sector Skills Bodies (SSBs) at the CTVET Head Office.

The engagement formed part of efforts to operationalise the Sector Skills Committee following the approval of its Terms of Reference by the CTVET Board. It brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on the revised composition and modalities for representation on the committee and to initiate the process for nomination of representatives from the Sector Skills Bodies.

The meeting focused on strengthening coordination within Ghana’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) ecosystem, enhancing industry collaboration, and ensuring that skills development remains responsive to labour market needs through stronger industry participation in occupational standards development and curriculum alignment.

Sector Skills Bodies continue to serve as critical industry-led platforms that bring together employers, industry experts, training providers, and other stakeholders to support skills development, workforce competitiveness, and the alignment of training with evolving industry demands across various sectors of the economy.

As part of the discussions, participants considered and agreed on a streamlined representation framework to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Sector Skills Committee. The revised structure is intended to enhance operational functionality while ensuring balanced stakeholder participation.

The meeting also resulted in the nomination of representatives from the Sector Skills Bodies to serve on the Sector Skills Committee in line with the approved structure. These nominations will be submitted to the CTVET Board for consideration and approval in accordance with established governance procedures.

CTVET remains committed to deepening collaboration with industry and stakeholders to build a responsive, modern, and globally competitive TVET system that meets the skills needs of Ghana’s economy.
