HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS TO PMMC ON THE HUGE WIN AT THE SIGA PELT AWARDS FOR THE 2024 YEAR OF ASSESSMENT.
I woke up this morning to see several messages from friends and family about the pleasant news that last night, the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC now GOLDBOD) had received several awards including the coveted Overall Best Specified Entity for the 2024 year of assessment. The awards were given under the Public Enterprise League Table (PELT) Awards which is organized under by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA).
The Public Enterprise League Table (PELT) Awards is an award scheme which recognizes the good and positive performance of state-owned entities. Last night, PMMC secured three key awards namely: Overall Best Specified Entity 2024; State-Owned Enterprise of the Year (2024); and the Most Profitable State-Owned Enterprise of the Year (2024).Other state entities that competed in these categories of awards were the Bui Power Authority, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) and the Volta River Authority (VRA).
Let me first take the opportunity to express gratitude to God for this beautiful success. Secondly, permit me to extend hearty congratulations to the entire team who worked tirelessly to make this achievement possible. For years, my team and I had been striving to turn around a struggling company. And I find it very heartwarming to see that the hard work we put in has indeed borne good fruit. Special recognition to the Board, Management and Staff of PMMC especially for the 2024 year of assessment. Indubitably, without you, this achievement could not have been possible.
PMMC’s success at the SIGA PELT Awards is evidence of what resilient and dedicated team work can produce. We inherited a loss-making debt-ridden company that was struggling to pay staff salaries and had years of outstanding statutory pecuniary obligations. And together, we worked hard to turn around the fortunes of the company so that by the end of year 2024, the Company had become highly profitable.
I recall vividly the numerous performance evaluation meetings with SIGA, who were equally supportive in providing honest and valuable feedback on our shortcomings as a company. We took the feedback in good faith and resolved to do better.
I feel honored and proud to have led the team that worked assiduously to turn around the fortunes of a near-moribund company which today is receiving top awards at the SIGA PELT Awards. It is my fervent prayer that these awards will be a source of encouragement and motivation to the current Board, Management and Staff to continue to work harder to keep growing the fortunes of the company.
