It was a privilege yesterday to launch Project ETHICS, a Malta-Ghana partnership supporting the teaching of ethics in schools and the wider development of values-based education. We were especially honoured by the presence of Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Minister for Education who announced Ghana's intention to partner with Malta as it prepares to introduce ethics in school curricula. Hon. Minister furthermore expressed strong interest in partnering with Malta.

The launch also brought together Oheneba Yaw Otchere, H.E. Rune Skinnebach, Ambassador of the European Union to Ghana, diplomatic representatives including H.E. Rosemary Mbabazi, High Commissioner of Rwanda to Ghana, senior diplomats from Nigeria and Ethiopia and Nii Doodo Dodoo, Country Director British Council Ghana. Feranmi Iyanda, Executive Director of Step Up Nigeria and Roger Tirazona, Head of Ethics Education at the Ministry for Education, Malta delivered well-received keynote speeches outlining Malta's experience in this area and highlighting StepUp Nigeria's efforts in Nigerian schools.

The presence of high ranking attendees underlined the importance of ethics as a subject in the curriculum and as a foundation for responsible citizenship, integrity, empathy and leadership. Participants concurred that for Ghana, with its young and dynamic population, the teaching of ethics can make an important contribution to building stronger communities and institutions.

Malta looks forward to sharing its experience and working closely with Ghana as this important initiative develops. A promising beginning, building further on our recent experiences with the Grace Project Connecting Classrooms in Ethiopia and Malta - a beginning built on shared values and a common commitment to educating future generations.

Project ETHICS is a new Ghana-Malta partnership that supports the teaching of ethics in the school curriculum promoting integrity, responsible citizenship and ethical leadership among young people.

Deputy High Commissioner Andrea De Bono Sant Cassia with Mr. Roger Tirazona, Head of Ethics, Ministry of Education, Malta joined representatives of StepUp Nigeria visiting schools in Accra, meeting inspiring students and engaging with dedicated teachers committed to shaping the next generation.

Project ETHICS reflects the shared belief of Ghana and Malta that education is not only about knowledge but also about values.

We look forward to growing this partnership with schools and communities across Ghana.

It was a pleasure to join the launch of the new Kitchens & Doors showroom by SAHS group and Construct Furniture in Accra.

In my remarks I highlighted how Malta has built an international reputation for craftsmanship, attention to detail and quality design. Maltese manufacturers have shown that innovation, skilled artisanship and a commitment to excellence can compete globally.

As Malta and Ghana continue to deepen their partnership, it is encouraging to see businesses creating new connections through investment, design and innovation. These partnerships are not only about products but about sharing expertise, building trust and creating opportunities for both countries.

Congratulations to the entire Construct Furniture team on this important milestone. I wish them every success in Ghana.

It was a pleasure to welcome fellow EU Ambassadors and Commonwealth High Commissioners to the Malta High Commission in Accra to mark the presentation of credentials held last week.

As a member of both the European Union and the Commonwealth, Malta occupies a unique position at the intersection of two communities that share many common aspirations for peace, prosperity, good governance, sustainable development and international cooperation. In my remarks I reflected on how Malta’s own history as a small island state has taught us the value of building bridges across regions and perspectives.

Bringing together representatives of the EU and the Commonwealth was an opportunity to highlight areas where our priorities converge, including trade and investment, maritime affairs, education, governance, cultural exchange and support for SMEs.

Many thanks to all EU and Commonwealth colleagues who joined us and contributed to a warm official welcome to Ghana. 🇲🇹 🇬🇭 🇪🇺 🌍
