Central Regional NHIA Management pays a courtesy call on Osabarimba Dr Kwesi Atta II
The NHIA Central Regional Management under the leadership of its Acting Regional Director, Mr Kojo Sekyere Koi Thompson has paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarimba Dr Kwesi Atta II who also serves as a Council of State member, at the Emintsimadze Palace in Cape Coast.
The meeting which occurred on Monday, July, 20, 2026 provided an opportunity for the Ag. Regional Director to officially introduce himself and his management team and to brief the Traditional council on the activities of the Authority in the Central Region.
In his address, Mr Thompson indicated that it was customary and incumbent on him to formally introduce himself to the traditional authority. ‘It has been a year since I started serving as the Ag. Central Regional Director of the NHIA. This visit should have been earlier but the complexities and exigencies of job has delayed it, he said, imploring the traditional ruler and his cabinet.
A key highlight of his address was his appreciation for the favorable environment which he had enjoyed within the past year of his administration. For the past year, I have not been harassed as an unknown entity. I applaud your leadership for creating a cordial atmosphere for all to flourish, he said.
He ended his address by seeking the guidance,support, and Blessings of the Omanhene to make region one of the best nationally in all things especially in the attainment of UHC.
Osabarimba Dr Kwesi Atta II in his response thanked the Mr Thompson and his team for the visit.
He, however urged, them to give of their best, emphasizing that health is paramount to national development. ‘A healthy people build a healthy nation and the NHIA’s contribution to this drive is very important’, he said.
He went further to encourage the NHIA management to prioritize preventive health education as a core objective in its efforts to promote healthy living and drive insurance enrollment. This in his opinion could help disease prevention and ultimately save lives.
He appealed to the NHIA Management to organize a card registration exercise for all his 42 sub-chiefs and to brief them on new developments within the NHIS.
Concluding his address, Osabarimba assured the NHIA management team of his continued support and that of his 42 sub-chiefs to help the Authority achieve its objective of improving access within the traditional area and the region at large.
As a gesture of goodwill, the Ag. Regional Director presented NHIS Souvenirs including branded mugs,pens, diary, caps, key holders and educational materials on NHIS to Osabarimaba Dr Kwesi Atta II.
