We have successfully concluded a three-day Haemovigilance Training, organized in collaboration with the Food and Drugs Authority Ghana and supported by the Paul Erlich Institut of the German Federal Ministry of Health.

This workshop marks a significant step forward for blood safety in Ghana. Over the course of the training, healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, midwives, and medical laboratory scientists, from St. John's Hospital and Fertility Centre, Maamobi General Hospital, St Martin's Memorial Hospital (Shukura), and Ga North Municipal Hospital, engaged tirelessly to enhance their skills.

Throughout the sessions, participants covered:
[ ] Detection, recognition, and reporting of reactions, as well as conducting root cause analysis.
[ ] Best practices for record-keeping, data validation, and maintaining confidentiality in haemovigilance reports.
[ ] Corrective and preventive measures to improve clinical transfusion practices.
[ ] Hands-on investigations of blood transfusion reactions using real-world case scenarios for patients.

The workshop concluded today with participants discussing the next steps for implementation at their respective facilities. We are proud of the dedication shown by all attendees in their commitment to ensuring a safer and higher-quality blood transfusion chain for all.

Thank you to our partners and participants for making this training a success!
