โ€˜ADWUMAWURAโ€™ PROGRAMME : A FLAGSHIP PROJECT ON PAPER & NOT ON GROUNDS.
The โ€˜Adwumawuraโ€™ Programme, one of the key job creation initiatives according to the NDC Government aims to support a minimum of 10,000 young Ghanaians aged between 18 to 35 years.
As outlined in the 2025 Budget and Economic Policy Statement, the Finance Minister announced that GHS100 million has been allocated to the โ€˜Adwumawuraโ€™ Programme for the 2025 fiscal year.
Young people were filled with excitement when the President of Ghana launched it. The programme to be implemented by the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) was aimed at addressing youth unemployment and fostering entrepreneurship in Ghana.
The President during the launch of the programme emphasised that beneficiaries will receive comprehensive assistance, including skills training, mentorship, access to start-up capital, and equipment; a holistic approach to ensure the sustainability and success of new businesses.
In the 2025 mid-year budget review, the Finance Minister announced that an amount of GHS 34.5 million has been paid to the "Adwumawura' Programme; which represents just 34.5% of the gross allocation as captured in the 2025 annual budget.
The โ€˜Adwumawuraโ€™ programme risks failure due to inadequate funding releases, and this could undermine its effectiveness despite the programme promising framework.
The funding gap means that only a fraction of the intended beneficiaries, likely less than 3,450 out of the targeted 10,000 minimum young Ghanaians will receive support in 2025. Without timely and full funding; training programmes, mentorship schemes, and start-up capital support will be scaled down thereby weakening the programme impact.
It has been seven months into the year 2025, and absence of tangible initiatives under the โ€˜Adwumawuraโ€™ programme speaks volumes to the NDC Government's commitment to tackling youth unemployment and equipping young people with skills and opportunities for economic empowerment yet I see and hear the NEIP CEO sit on radio and TV "bragging" of creating unprecedented jobs. Mr. Eric Adjei come again.

Kofi Bentil writes........โœ๏ธ

The cedi is appreciating because the US government is acting in ways that is devaluing the dollar. It has even been said that they want a weaker dollar. That strategy is clearly helping the Ghana Cedi, but there is more; The cedi is appreciating also because:

1. We have Gold reserves which were accumulated since the last government.
This government has also added to the gold reserves BUT a check of the numbers will reveal that most of what was purchased by this government has been sold for forex which has been pushed into the system and its shoring up the cedi. So the actions of the past and present governments are paying off.

2. This policy of gold purchase started in the last government and was pushed by DMB, and fortunately has been continued by this government under JM, and is being enhanced by the GoldBod idea. Both effforts are leading to positive results. Both governments deserve praise.

3. Thereโ€™s something about the passion of an originator which no one else can emulate. Itโ€™s therefore always good to acknowledge originators and even co-opt them in any effort. We get nothing by spurning them, and gain everything by coopting them

4. I am so excited that the Cedi is getting stronger but I pray even more that this effort will Not be politicized and bastardized, but all brains and efforts from both sides of the political divide will be tapped to sustain it. Ghana will get very strong if we can do this.

5. I repeat what was said earlier that no government will develop Ghana alone. It will take all governments from both parties working in a chain or baton relay to move us forward. Letโ€™s buildโ€ฆ together.

Goasohene dies whilst consulting deity over John Mahama election bid

The Omanhene of Goaso in the Ahafo Region, Nana Akwasi Bosomprah, has died under circumstances that have led many residents in the region to raise questions about his association with former President John Mahama.

Indeed, the death of the Omanhene, who was a close pal of the NDC presidential candidate and a self-confessed NDC member, has sent tongues wagging and caused apprehension in the Ahafo Region.

Stories making the rounds in the area indicate that on Tuesday, December 3, the 58-year-old paramount chief decided to consult some deities about the chances of John Mahama in Saturdayโ€™s elections.

Collapse

In the course of the consultation, a fe**sh priest told him that John Mahama would lose the election.
Apparently shocked by the pronouncement by the fe**sh priest, the Omanhene immediately collapsed.

He was rushed to a hospital where he died.

Dirty deals

Following the demise of Nana Bosomprah, a group known as Concerned Ahafo Youth has accused the late Omanhene, for being behind many of the dirty and criminal activities perpetrated by thugs and hooligans associated with the NDC, including the notorious Goaso-based 'Salifu 11'.

According to the Concerned Ahafo Youth, the late Goasohene was being used by John Mahama to carry out evil plans towards the elections.

The Omanhene was said to have received big cash from the NDC to undertake his nefarious activities.

Influencing chiefs

Nana Bosomprah was also being used by John Mahama to influence some other chiefs in the Ahafo and Bono areas to support the Mahama agenda for president.

Credible information indicates that, following his death, fear has gripped other chiefs who agreed to work with him on the John Mahama diabolic agenda.

Meanwhile, the money John Mahama sent to the late Goasohene appears to have gone down the drain.
