The KOICA Ghana Office invites sealed proposals from qualified and eligible offerors for the Supply and Delivery of Agricultural Machinery & Equipment for the “Rehabilitation of Irrigation Schemes and Improvement of Irrigation Water Management Project.”

Bidding documents are available free of charge from the KOICA Ghana Office during the collection period. Interested offerors are required to bring a USB storage device to receive electronic copies of the documents.

The successful contractor will supply and deliver the equipment to the Ashaiman and Aveyime Irrigation Schemes and provide the required installation and training at the beneficiary sites.

🌍 2026 KOICA Youth Leaders Program Officially Begins in Ghana

On 3 August, the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 KOICA Youth Leaders Program (Public Sector Track) was held at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

The program brings together 200 young leaders from Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, and Cameroon, who will participate in intensive training from 2 to 29 August 2026. The first two weeks are dedicated to 100 public sector participants, who will receive training in leadership, policy development, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation.

In his remarks, H.E. Park Kyongsig, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ghana, encouraged participants to use the knowledge and experience gained through the program to become leaders of change and contribute to the sustainable development of their countries.

Dr. Evans Aggrey Darkoh, the Head of the Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS) congratulated participants on being selected for the prestigious program and emphasized that it offers an important opportunity to strengthen leadership capabilities, exchange best practices with peers from across the region, and build lasting professional networks that will contribute to public sector innovation and Africa's sustainable development.

Mr. Sangback Lee, Director of the Capacity Building Program Division at KOICA Headquarters, emphasized that the program was designed to foster cross-cultural learning, strengthen professional networks, and facilitate the exchange of ideas among emerging leaders across West Africa.

Through this initiative, the Government of the Republic of Korea, KOICA, and GIMPA are investing in the next generation of public sector leaders who will drive innovation and sustainable development across the region.

After three memorable years, we bid farewell to Mr. D**g Hyun Lee, who has successfully completed his assignment as Country Director of KOICA Ghana.

Throughout his leadership, Mr. Lee guided every aspect of the office—from development projects and the WFK program to overall office management—with dedication, professionalism, and great attention to detail. He led with confidence when making important decisions, cared deeply for the well-being of every staff member, and always brought warmth and encouragement to the workplace.

🌍 Performance Sharing Meeting & Congratulations to KOICA Project Volunteers (6th Batch)!

On 24 July, KOICA Ghana held a Performance Sharing Meeting for the 6th Batch ICT Project Volunteers, providing an opportunity to reflect on their achievements and celebrate the successful completion of their three-month volunteer assignment.

Throughout their service, the volunteers made meaningful contributions to ICT education by:

Delivering ICT Teacher Learning Circles (TLCs) for teachers
Conducting after-school ICT classes for students
Organizing career tours for senior high school students
Developing an ICT Lab Operation Guide to support sustainable ICT lab management

The session also included guidance on return procedures and post-service medical check-ups to help ensure a safe and smooth completion of their assignment. As a token of appreciation, the volunteers received commemorative gifts recognizing their dedication and contributions.

🌱♻️ Empowering the Next Generation of Environmental Stewards

On 16 July 2026, the KAAG-KOICA Environmental Awareness and Recycling Outreach Program was held at Accra Academy Senior High School, bringing together students for a day of learning, creativity, and climate action.

Supported by the Government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA, the program featured the donation of waste bins and cleaning supplies, an environmental awareness session led by Alfred K. Dadzie Wilson, a KOICA alumnus trained in Korea on Capacity Building for Response to Climate Change, hands-on recycling activities such as transforming old T-shirts into tote bags and creating artwork from recyclable materials, as well as an interactive quiz competition.

During the opening ceremony, KOICA Ghana Country Director Mr. D**g Hyun Lee encouraged students to become responsible environmental citizens through small but meaningful daily actions. On behalf of KAAG President Ms. Lovia Afoakwa, Event Coordinator Ms. Gifty Amwabanina highlighted the importance of applying knowledge gained through the KOICA Scholarship Program to create positive change in local communities. Mr. Eric Ebo Sey, representing Accra Academy, encouraged students to become environmental stewards and lead by example within their schools and communities.

Together, the Government of the Republic of Korea, KOICA, and KAAG continue to inspire young people to rethink waste, embrace recycling, and build a more sustainable future.

🍽️ Strengthening the Ghana School Feeding Programme Through Digital Innovation

As part of the KOICA-WFP Youth Economic Empowerment through Digitalization for Resilience in Food and Nutrition Security and Improved Livelihoods Project, a field visit was conducted to schools participating in the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).

The visit provided an opportunity to observe school feeding operations firsthand, engage with school administrators and staff, and discuss ways to further strengthen collaboration. Discussions also focused on the implementation of School Connect, a digital platform that collects and manages real-time data on school feeding operations to enhance monitoring, transparency, and evidence-based decision-making.

Through the support of the Government of the Republic of Korea via KOICA, schools have been equipped with digital devices, including tablets, to facilitate the effective use of the School Connect system.

Together, the Government of the Republic of Korea, KOICA, WFP, and the Government of Ghana are working to strengthen digital solutions that improve the efficiency and sustainability of the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

📚 **Supporting Better Learning Environments for Every Child**

On **8 July 2026**, KOICA officially handed over educational facilities and equipment to **Abbey D/A Basic School** through a **Volunteer On-site Project (VOP)**, reaffirming its commitment to improving access to quality education in Ghana.

The project provided classroom and office furniture, teaching equipment, bookshelves, televisions, whiteboards, and facility improvements to enhance the school's learning environment and support both pupils and teachers.

Volunteer On-site Projects enable KOICA volunteers to work closely with local communities to address practical needs and create sustainable improvements that continue benefiting schools long after the project is completed.

Together with our partners in Ghana, KOICA will continue investing in quality education and supporting learning environments where every child has the opportunity to grow and succeed.
