VALCO Not for Sale as Government Moves to Secure Investor for Revival

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Honourable Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has dismissed claims that the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) is being sold, assuring workers that Government has no such intention.

He made the disclosure when he met with management and staff at VALCO’s Conference Room on 30th July, 2026 following the demonstration of some staff about the purported sale of VALCO.

Ghana, Sierra Leone Deepen Cooperation on Land Administration Reforms

A 10-member delegation from Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning and the National Land Commission have paid a working visit to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to learn about the country’s land policy, administration and ongoing reforms.

Welcoming the delegation, the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr. Innocent Marcus Haligah, described the visit as an opportunity for both countries to openly exchange ideas and learn from each other’s experiences.

LANDS MINISTER IN HONG KONG TO ATTRACT INVESTMENT INTO GHANA’S MINING SECTOR

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Honourable Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has begun a strategic working visit to Hong Kong aimed at attracting investment into Ghana’s mining sector and strengthening partnerships with the international business community.

The visit forms part of the Ministry’s broader agenda to position Ghana as a preferred destination for responsible mining investment and to secure capital that will support the sustainable growth and modernization of the country’s mineral resources industry.

World Gold Council commits US$250,000 grant to Ghana’s responsible small-scale mining programme

The Government of Ghana has secured an initial US$250,000 development grant from the World Gold Council as part of a broader US$1 million to support responsible artisanal and small-scale gold mining and strengthen efforts to curb illegal gold trade.

The funding forms part of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Ghana and the World Gold Board through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to improve supply chain integrity and promote environmentally sustainable mining practices.
