EDAIF is an agency of the Ministry of Trade and Industry established by an Act of Parliament (Act 872) which received presidential assent on 8th January 2014. The Fund was set up to support the development and promotion of agro-processing, industrial development and the export trade. EDAIF provides four main facilities under its mandate. These are:
Research, Development and Promotion Account. The
following groups can benefit from the facility: farmers’ co-operatives and associations who are into agricultural, agro-processing non-traditional products for export. Credit Facility Account
This facility provides concessionary loans to Ghanaian businesses through Designated Financial Institutions (DFIs) at very competitive rates. Projects account
This facility provides financial support to public or private sector businesses through the Minister of Trade and Industry. It is meant to finance export-oriented production and the export trade. Equity finance account
This account provides financial resources through government-aided equity financing schemes. Such companies must have their majority shareholding held by a Ghanaian. THE EDAIF SUCCESS STORY in contributing to national development. Some of the highlights of EDAIF’s contribution are as follows:
