MP for Bole-Bamboi donates Maths Sets to all BECE candidates

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bole- Bamboi Alhaji Yussif Sulemana has donated 1,340 mathematical sets to the Ghana Education Service (GES) for onward distribution to all 2017 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the Bole District. This is fulfilment to a promise the MP made to his constituents before he was elected as MP. The MP made this donation at a brief programme at the Bole GES directorate that was covered live by Nkilgi FM at Bole.

Even though the number candidates writing the BECE exams are 1,013, the MP donated 1,340 mathematical sets so that the rest can be used for emergencies purposes.

The MP said he will continue his donation every year for his four year mandate and also disclosed he has rolled out other programs for students especially those at the BECE level. He said his focus as an MP will be on education, Agriculture and Health issues.

Hon Sulemana said the most critical moment of every student is at the BECE level and that it is an onus on all stakeholders to ensure they do their part for the children to pass. He said BECE students in Bole District have not performed to satisfaction in the past few years and called on, the Ghana Education Service, the Bole District Assembly, parents, himself as MP and other stakeholders to do their best to help reverse the situation and as well called on parents and who are mostly Muslims and Christians to organise prayers for the BECE candidates. According the MP parents should appreciate importance of education and that BECE students be freed from engagements at home and rather encouraged to intensify extra classes and that mock exams be organised for the children to ensure the BECE results goes up.

The District Director of Ghana Education for Bole District, Mr
Samuel Aawar said the donation by the MP came at the right time because it will motivate the children who are in their critical moment of their education. He assured the MP that the mathematical sets will get all the BECE candidates in the District by by Wednesday 31st May, 2017. He was elated the MP said the donation will continue for his four years as MP and encouraged the MP to go by the promise.
