The Regional Director, Ghana Tourism Authority, Mr Joseph Appiagyei honoured the invitation to Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) Heritage Project Launch at Nabdam District Assembly on the 14th May, 2026. The FMNR Heritage Project seeks to restore degraded lands, strengthen community resilience, and improve livelihood through sustainable natural resource management practices. It is a low-cost, sustainable land restoration technique where farmers systematically manage the regrowth of trees and shrubs from existing living stumps, roots and seeds developed by Tony Rinaudo.
Since tourism is rooted in all disciplines, notwithstanding agriculture for example agri or agro tourism. Agriculture is one of the oldest professions and can be linked to the promotion of the Black Star Experience subjected to See GH and Eat GH.
The programme was organized by World Vision and other partners.
Participants; Chiefs, Tendanas, Farmer groups, Opinion Leaders, Heads of Departments amongst others.

Present at the exhibition, the Ghana stand showcased culture and traditions (arts and crafts) which represent our worldview and also in connection with the Black Star Experience. Our stand hosted a high delegation such as H. E. Kenneth Akibate- Ghana Ambassador to Burkina Faso, H. E. General David Kabre- Burkina Faso Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Abdullah Haruna Alhassan - Minister/ Head of Chancery, Mr. Paul Seidu Tanya-Kulono- Director General, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority amongst others. 26th April, 2026.

Earlier today, the Hotel's Association of the Upper East Region held a meeting at Premier Lodge Annex. The gathering welcomed the new Director Regional of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Mr. Joseph Appiagyei, who stressed cultural promotions and partnerships as key drivers for tourism growth.

The session also marked the chairman’s handover to his vice, with discussions on new fee changes, stakeholder engagement, and website hosting. Lion 1 TV streamed the event live and shared advertising opportunities with discount packages, while the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) outlined progress on VAT digitalisation.

Management of Blue Waves Radio hosted the Regional Director, Ghana Tourism Authority, Upper East Region, Mr Joseph Appiagyei on their morning show themed; Ghana Month and the future of tourism in the Upper East Region. In his submission, he indicated the month is dedicated to promoting Ghanaian culture, product, food and everything Ghanaian. He also said, the region is endowed with culture, traditions and tourist sites that can be harnessed for economic gains in the region. He added it is a shared responsibility.

The Regional Director, Ghana Tourism Authority, Mr. Joseph Appiagyei honoured invitation to World Storytelling Day organized by our sister agency, the Ghana Museum and Monument Board at Tarikom in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region. Themed; Strengthening Cultural Values and Peace building. Mr. Appiagyei accounted on Peace as a catalyst for development and tourism, the role of cultural values and storytelling.
Participants; Peace council, NCCE, GES, Chiefs and elders and selected schools.
