The Ghana Armed Forces Physical Training School has commenced a 17-week Advance Physical Training Instructors course at the Physical Training school, Whistler Barracks, Teshie on Wednesday 21 January 2026.
A total of 47 participants, including three females, each drawn from the Army, Air Force and Navy reported for the intensive training designed to enhance their professional competence as physical training instructors.
Delivering an address on behalf of the Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), the Assistant Commandant of the Tri-Service Training School (ASCOM TTS), Air Commodore Gervase Wienaa underscored the need for participants to approach the course with discipline, commitment and high sense of responsibility in order to derive maximum benefit from the training.
He noted that physical training and fitness must not be underestimated in the military, stressing their mandate to train personnel and sustain a high level of excellence that positions them as pillar of physical training and fitness.
He further explained that the course package has been structured to equip participants with the requisite skills and knowledge in line with the contemporary military training standards.
Air Commodore Wienaa also reminded participants about the comprehensive nature of the course, which encompasses both theoretical and practical component and urged them to be physically and mentally prepared to perform above the standard expected of an average service person.
โThe Physical Training profession, as you may be aware, is a disciplined one that calls for a lot of sacrifice and devotion. It therefore demands that you work extra hard to actualise your dream. In fact you must bear in mind that there is no automatic pass on this course without personally working tirelessly to achieve itโ he added.
