The collaboration between the Dangme West District of the National Health Insurance Scheme and St. Andrew Catholic Hospital during the 2026 Child Health Promotion Week was more than just a health exercise; it was a moment of hope, compassion, and care for the future generation.
Under the inspiring theme, “Protect Every Child: Vaccinate, Screen Early, and Keep Them Healthy,” hundreds of mothers, fathers, and guardians gathered with their children not only to seek healthcare but also to secure a brighter and healthier future for them. The sight of healthcare professionals attending to children with smiles, patience, and dedication reminded everyone that every child deserves love, protection, and access to quality healthcare regardless of their background.
Through this noble collaboration, children received free health screening services while parents were also given the opportunity to enroll themselves and their children onto the NHIS under the Free Waiver Month initiative. Many people were successfully enrolled, a remarkable achievement that reflects the commitment of both institutions toward improving healthcare access in the community.
For many families, this exercise was more than registration and medical screening. It was relief for struggling parents, assurance for worried mothers, and renewed hope for children whose health and wellbeing remain the foundation of a stronger society. Every child screened and every NHIS card issued represented a life protected and a family empowered.
The Dangme West District NHIS and St. Andrew Catholic Hospital deserve commendation for bringing healthcare closer to the people and demonstrating that when institutions work together with compassion and purpose, communities become healthier and stronger.
Indeed, protecting every child today is an investment in a healthier and brighter Ghana tomorrow.
