The 10th Annual Meeting will also feature the 3rd Global Debt Initiative (GDI) and the AfCFTA Students’ Congress, creating a platform for dialogue on Africa’s debt challenges, trade integration, and the future of the continent.

The Right Honorable Speaker of Parliament has called on all Speakers of Parliament through CoSPAL to be committed to GITFiCs Global Debt Initiative in finding a collaborative solution to the huge debt crisis facing Africa and the Global South. This will be critically discussed at the upcoming 10th GITFiC Annual Meeting scheduled for October 14th, 2026 in Accra.

Volta Economic Forum 2026 Held in Ho

The 2026 Volta Economic Forum has been held at the G.M. Afeti Auditorium of the Ho Technical University under the theme, “From Opportunity Showcase to Investment Execution.”
The Forum brought together government, traditional authorities, investors, businesses and development partners to explore investment opportunities across agriculture and agro-processing, tourism, manufacturing, energy, the blue economy, logistics and infrastructure.
The Volta Regional Coordinating Council expresses its appreciation to Togbe Afede XIV for chairing the occasion and contributing to the success of the Forum.
The Forum reaffirmed the collective commitment to moving beyond showcasing the Region’s potential to executing investments that create jobs, grow businesses and improve livelihoods.

Volta Region Strengthens WASH Capacity with Support from CAWST

The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has received a delegation from the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST), Canada, led by Senior Manager of Global Learning and Development, Leanne Madjidi, at his office.
The team, led by the Regional Environmental Health Officer, Madam Stella Kumedzro, paid a courtesy call on the Minister as part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of Environmental Health Officers across the Region.
The training will equip officers with practical skills in drinking-water safety, water-quality testing, household water treatment, sanitation, hygiene promotion and monitoring, enabling them to support communities in adopting safer WASH practices.
Hon. Gunu welcomed the initiative and expressed appreciation to CAWST for supporting efforts to build healthier and safer communities across the Volta Region.

Gunu Urges School Feeding Stakeholders to Support Ghana’s Reset Agenda

Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has called on stakeholders in the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) and Ghana Education Service (GES) across the Volta, Oti and Eastern Regions to strengthen collaboration and integrity in delivering quality meals to schoolchildren.
Speaking at the GSFP–GES Regional and District Level Directors Workshop in Ho, the Minister stressed that the success and sustainability of the school feeding programme requires collective responsibility from education directors, headteachers, coordinators, caterers, MMDCEs, Assembly Members and communities.
Hon. Gunu urged stakeholders to strictly adhere to approved menus and standards, cautioning against reducing the quality or quantity of meals as a way of cutting corners.
He further encouraged MMDCEs and other local stakeholders to take an active interest in the programme and work with school authorities to address challenges and ensure effective implementation.
The two-day workshop, being held at Hotel Stevens, Ho, from 22nd–23rd September 2026, is aimed at strengthening collaboration between the GSFP and GES at the regional and district levels for improved delivery of the school feeding programme.
