Asogli Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Day Inspires Young People to Build a Better Future

The Asogli Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Day 2026 was held on Saturday, 22 August, at the G.M. Afeti Auditorium of Ho Technical University, bringing together young people from across Asogli State for a day of learning, inspiration and empowerment.

The programme brought together students from OLA Girls Senior High School, Mawuli School and Mawuko Girls, alongside chiefs, queen mothers, elders and other stakeholders from across the Asogli State. The Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, HRM Togbe Afede XIV, was also present.

A major focus of the programme was the need to equip young people with the knowledge, mindset and support required to make responsible choices and build sustainable livelihoods.

The gathering featured important discussions on substance addiction and rehabilitation, with presentations by Mr. Courage Ahorlu-Dzage and Rev. Dr. Charles Yao Agede, a trained psychologist and Volta Regional Mental Health Coordinator, who highlighted the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of prevention, support and rehabilitation.

The Special Guest, Dr. Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, Managing Director of Cocoa Marketing Company, also addressed the youth, sharing perspectives on personal development, enterprise and the importance of preparing young people to take advantage of opportunities.

In his address, Togbe Afede XIV challenged the youth to embrace hard work, perseverance, honesty and determination as essential qualities for success. His message reinforced the importance of taking personal responsibility for one’s future rather than waiting for opportunities to come.

The event reflected Asogli State’s continued commitment to investing in it’s young people and creating opportunities for them to become productive contributors to society. Togbe Afede XIV has previously supported young entrepreneurs through the Asogli State Youth Empowerment initiative, including a GH¢260,000 support package for eight young entrepreneurs in 2025.

The Asogli Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Day therefore served not only as a platform for inspiration, but as a reminder that the future of Asogli depends greatly on the preparation, character and determination of its youth.

2026 Asogli Te Zá Officially Launched in Grand Cultural Celebration

Theme: “UNITED IN PURPOSE, INVESTING IN PEOPLE AND INFRASTRUCTURE FOR SUSTAINABLE NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT”

The 2026 Asogli Te Zá (Yam Festival) was officially launched on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the GNAT Hall in Ho in a vibrant celebration of the rich cultural heritage, traditions and unity of the Asogli people.

The colourful ceremony brought together distinguished traditional leaders, government representatives, entrepreneurs, corporate executives, members of the business community and lovers of culture from across the Volta Region and beyond.

The occasion featured captivating cultural performances, with the Asogli Asafo Group, Takla Jama Group and Kpenoe Bɔbɔbɔ troupe showcasing the rich traditions of Asogli through powerful drumming, traditional music and energetic dance.

The ceremony was chaired by Hon. Stephen Adom, Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, who represented the Volta Regional Minister. The ceremony was further graced by Togbe Kotoku XI, Paramount Chief of the Kpenoe Traditional Area, and Togbe Ayim Adzokoto, Paramount Chief of the Takla Traditional Area, who both played prominent roles in the proceedings, reflecting the strong support and unity of the traditional leadership of Asogli State.

Beyond the cultural displays, the launch provided a valuable platform for interaction and collaboration among traditional authorities, government representatives, business leaders, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders. It further highlighted the importance of Asogli Te Zá in promoting cultural preservation, tourism, community development and economic opportunities.

Anchored on the theme, “United in Purpose, Investing in People and Infrastructure for Sustainable National Development,” the 2026 celebration places a strong emphasis on unity, human development and strategic investment in infrastructure as essential pillars for sustainable progress.

Asogli Te Zá remains a significant annual celebration of the Asogli people’s heritage, identity, harvest traditions and enduring spirit of unity.

With the successful launch setting the tone, anticipation now builds towards the main 2026 Asogli Te Zá festivities, as Asogli welcomes all to join in celebrating its rich heritage, culture and shared aspirations for a sustainable future.

Togbe Afede XIV Chairs Grand Durbar to Mark Supreme Court at 150

His Royal Majesty Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, today chaired the Grand Durbar marking the 150th Anniversary of the Supreme Court of Ghana at the Ohene Konadu Auditorium of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

Togbe Afede was accompanied by a distinguished delegation of chiefs, queen mothers, and elders from the Asogli State, underscoring the enduring partnership between Ghana’s traditional authorities and the nation’s justice system.

The historic celebration was graced by H.E. Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Chief Justice of Ghana, as well as the Chief Justices of Sierra Leone and and a deligation from The Gambia. The event also brought together Justices of the Superior Courts, members of the Bar, traditional rulers and senior government officials.

In his Chairman’s Remarks, Togbe Afede XIV highlighted the indispensable role of an independent, credible, and accessible Judiciary in protecting the rule of law, strengthening democratic governance, and fostering national development. He commended the Judiciary for its 150 years of dedicated service to Ghana and urged all stakeholders to continue upholding the principles of integrity, fairness, accountability, and justice for all.

The Grand Durbar celebrated the Supreme Court’s remarkable legacy while reaffirming a shared commitment to advancing justice, constitutionalism, and the rule of law in Ghana and across Africa.
