NEW JUABENG SOUTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY TRAINS YOUTH UNDER YOUSTART POLICY
As part of effort to address the high youth unemployment rate in the country, the government of Ghana announced an ambitious entrepreneurial programme in the 2022 budget known as “YouStart” with the objectives of building an entrepreneurial nation and creates at least One (1) million jobs for the teaming youth in the next three years.

It is as a result of this that the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA) office within the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly organized (14) fourteen days intensive entrepreneurial course for over seventy (70) selected unemployed youth under the ‘YouStart’ policy, a sequel to the NABC

The project which is first in the country and funded by the World Bank sought to provide technical skills training and business development to support individuals and businesses to enable them become employable and also scale up their businesses.
At the Municipal launching, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi commended the NPP government for such a laudable initiative, saying it will empower the youth, build their capacity and put the Ghana’s economy into the global market. He charged the beneficiaries to avail themselves for the training so that they can also train others and become role models in their societies.

Mr. Appaw-Gyasi reiterated that government alone cannot do it that is why the government led by His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo is more committed to bridge the gap between employed and unemployed by introducing this initiative which is expected to inure benefit to all generations.

For her part, the Municipal Director for Ghana Enterprise Agency, Madam Jane Asieduwaa Gyekye, applauded the government for the strategy to augment the unemployment situation in the country. She was quick to add that this policy will go a long way to put smiles on the faces of the ordinary Ghanaian who then becomes the breadwinners.

NEW JUABEN SOUTH COMMISSIONED TWO PROJECTS.

The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi today led a delegation to commission two seperate 2-unit Kindergarten blocks for the pupils of Nana Kwaku Boateng 'A' and Trinity Presby Model schools respectively. The projects started last year and completed and handed over this year are expected to nurture the KG pupils to feed class 1 and beyond.
Handing over the keys of two facilities to the school authorities, the MCE cautioned the headmistresses of the various schools to maintain the facility so as to benefit the younger ones in future.
He further called on Teachers of the various schools to do everything possible to better the academic performance of the pupils in their schools.
Receiving the keys, on behalf of the headmistresses, the deputy director incharge of Planning, Madam Joana Anankwaa, who represented the Municipal Education Director, assured the management of their role to maintain the facility.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION- KOFORIDUA

The National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) in collaboration with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) celebrated the just ended women’s day which was held at the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly hall on the 13th March, 2023 with the theme “digital innovation and technology for gender equality, embrace equity”.

The celebration was witnessed by Hon. Mrs. Regina Bempong, the Eastern Regional secretary for NALAG, Dr. Mrs. Benedicta C. Foli, former Headmistress of Pope John Senior High school, Hon Gladys Addo, NALAG Women Caucus Representative, Mrs. Esi Benewaa Otoo, Gender Equality Project Officer FCM/NALAG, Nana Anima Ampofoa, Santa Hemaa of New Juaben Traditional Area, the Assembly woman for Residential Electoral Area, Hon. Kate Valeria Bedjabeng; the Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South and some women in the municipal among others.

Hon. Mrs. Valeria K. Bedjabeng, the Eastern Regional coordinator for NALAG, advised women to involve themselves in the Assembly elections to increase the number of women in all endeavors and also, advised them to do away with hatred and focus on issues that will move the country forward.

Mrs. Benedicta C. Foli on her part stated that women are doctors, seamstress, lawyers, wives in their homes and their goal is to serve the nation, hence, she advised the women to involve themselves in politics so as to compete the number of honorable members during Assembly meetings.
‘Women are organizers and managers in the home and therefore, must further their education to support their husbands and children’ she reiterated.
She also advised the women not to choose money over their children since they are the reason for them working but rather take proper care of them. To improve in education, Mrs. Benedicta C. Foli encouraged mothers to support and involve their female children to choose more of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) courses to help increase the number of females when it comes to technological innovation in the country.
The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi, added his voice by saying everybody on this earth was born by a woman therefore he will do anything within his power to help women because when women are comfortable it helps in raising their children. “Women go through a lot, especially mothers in raising children and asked God to bless them” MCE stated.
The Crime Officer for New Juaben, ASP Charity Hortorwu advised the women on security issues. She told them to check their way of dressing and that of their children to prevent any form of abuse. She continued to advise women to humbly, know the type of friends their children make, by way of monitoring their movements and not just leave them to be on their own without any guidance and counseling since they are the future leaders of this country. She then proceeded to admonish the women to be on the lookout of fraud activities on their mobile phones and ATM cards which has become rampant nowadays of defrauding innocent people. She later noted that, the Offices of Ghana Police Service is always opened and available for everyone to report any crime issues for a quick response.

Hon. Nana Anima Ampofoa, Santahemaa, further called on all women to ensure that the spirit discipline is inculcated in their children so that they can take the leadership role in the country. She further encouraged the women to put-up their best in raising their children. This to her will help them know the type of children they have and how to raise them and provide good guidance that will enable the children to be adapted in society.
She restated that as they are the main characters in raising their children at home, they should set good examples by giving their partners the needed respect and advised them to encourage their children to learn hard to be great people in the future.

The Chief Justice for the Republic of Ghana, His Lordship Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah in the hours of about 15:30pm today commissioned an ultra modern circuit court in Koforidua the Eastern Regional capital. The new court aimed at facilitating the smooth operation of justice delivery system in the Municipality and the country at large.
Unveiling the plaque, the Chief Justice who was ably supported by the representative of the Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Council, Daasebre Dr. Kwaku Boateng III; the Representative of the Regional Minister, hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong; the Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi, the Regional Chief Imam and other justices and judges within the judicial sector, admonished the chiefs and people of Koforidua to own the high court, make it more attractive so that it can serve the citizens of Koforidua and beyond.
"The court sponsored by the government of Ghana through the District Assembly Common is expected to house Koforidua High Court 'A' and 'B' respectively for fair and equal justice delivery system.
For his part, the Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi who commended the President for such an initiatives said the project will go along way to ease the delays in justice delivery system.
Je further appealed to the public to also practice out of court settlement in order to promote peace in the country. He reiterated the Assembly's support to maintain the facility so that the purpose for which it was constructed is achieved.

66TH INDEPENDENCE DAY MARKED.

The 66 independence day celebration in the Eastern Region was held at the jubilee park in Koforidua with 248 contingents officers derived from various security agencies including 27 schools taken part in the march past.
The Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong who took the salute congratulated Ghanaians for upholding the peace of the country for the past 30 years and called for it's sustenance.
On 6th March 1957, Ghana gained independence after 83 years of British colonial rule – becoming the first sub-Saharan African country to achieve independence from Britain.
The country’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah declared Ghana as “free forever” from colonial rule, marking a historic turning point in the governance of the country. Since that day, every March 6 is celebrated across the country and among Ghanaians abroad with various activities, some of which are observed throughout the month of March.

*NJSMA AWARD 15 FARMERS*
The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly in this year's national farmers day awarded 15 gallant farmers for their enormous support to the economy. The awardees took home cuttlasses, willington booths, bowls, Napsack Sprayer, radio, clothes, certificate among others.
The colourful ceremony which was on the theme; 'Accelerating Agriculture Development; Through Value Added Addition' saw the present of religious and traditional leaders, Assembly members, Heads of department, the MCE, gallant farmers and the general public.
Commending the farmers for their contributions to national development, the Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi, said the government of Ghana will continue to remain resolute to the welfare of farmers, since they play a pivotal role in the Ghana's economy and the world at large.
Outlining various government interventions to the public, he said 1D1F, Planting for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export, among others were some few areas to ensure there is abundance food in the country.
He reiterated the government's commitment to improve agricultural through value addition and free distribution of coconut and palm seedlings.
The Municipal Agric Director, Madam Tharzial Akwetey applauded the farmers and cautioned them to put in measures that will enable them yeild more crops in the ensuing years so as to feed the country.
She further called on all and sundries to practice backyard gardens in order to prevent food shortage.
The overall best farmer at the end of the day went to a 42-year old man from Obuotabiri, a suburb of Koforidua, master Neina Ngekina. He received in addition a Tricycle which was sponsored by the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Constituency, 42" flat screen TV among others.

The BAC Head for New Juaben South Municipal- Koforidua organised a Grand Match Making of it first kind. In all 92 youth apprentices were matched to 38 skilled Craft Persons (SCPs) with few parents present.
Speaking on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi; the Municipal Finance Officer (MFO); Mr. Felix Kwakye Quainoo commended the apprentices for availing themselves in learning a trade. He was optimistic that the training will go a long way to improve their living conditions.
He further assured the Youth of start-up kits after their 3 years Training- 2022-2025. The BAC Head's initiative is to kick start the Agenda 1 million Job Creation in the country.

*HANDING OVER OF SITE* :

A ceremony to hand over construction site for an ultra modern zongo clinic to the consultant and constractor to commence work has been held in Koforidua the regional capital.
The project which is expected to be completed to the health directorate in December 2023; sought to bridge the healthcare gab within the Municipality. The project will entail Theatre, Delivery and OPD section.
Present at the ceremony were the Zongo chiefs, Assembly members, party faithfuls, heads of department, consultant and contractors, health professionals and Municipal Chief Executive for the New Juaben South.
In his address, the MCE, Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi commended the government for taking keen interest to improve the health conditions of citizens. He charged the contractors to engage the services of local artisans to enhance their economic livelihood.
The consultant to the site, Mr. Kyere thanked the Zongo leaders, Assembly and Ghana Health Service for their readiness for the project to commence on time. He further assured them of speed and quality work so as to meet it intended purpose.

Over two thousand four hundred and forty candidates are taking part in the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) within the New Juaben South Municipality. The number made up of one thousand one hundres and thirty-nine (1,139) for males and one thousand three hundred and one (,1301) females.
In all, seventy-seven (77) schools presented their candidates for the exams which comprise of; forty-nine (49) Public schools nad twenty-eight (28) Private schools respectively at four (4) different examination centres.

Addressing the candidates, the Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South; hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi admonished the students to eschew any tendency that may trigger examination malpractice.
"Read the question severally, understand them before you answer dont just answer any question for answering sake. Ghana need your performance for future purposes and you are the future leaders of this country, go and make Ghana proud" he said.

DAY 2 OF NEW JUABEN SOUTH COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi in the second day of the Assembly's community engagement trial landed at Accra station, Srodae and Kantudu respectively to interact with opinion and religious leaders, Assembly members, transport unions, hawkers, business men and women and other members of the community.

The engagement paved way for the various communities to lay to bear their grievances and challenges confronting them.

Answering numerous questions from public, the MCE said all concerns and challenges will surely be addressed in due time.

SWISS DELEGATION CALL ON NJSMCE.

SWISS Embassy in Ghana on Thursday, 8th September 2022; paid a working visit to the management of the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly in Koforidua. The missions lead by Ms. Chantal Brectschi-Kaye, the country's Focal Point for Ghana at the SWISS State Secretariat for Economic Afairs (SECO); in Berni and in chargeof the Macroeconomic Support portfolio sought to ascertain whether the supports received from SWISS government are put to good use.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Chantal commended the Ghana government for improving the economic well-being of the people through infrastructure development.
"We have seen everything ourselves the kind of development and its economic impacts on the ordinary citizens, following the site inspection" she added.
This she assured management that SWISS government will continue support to the New Juaben South and the country at large.
For his part, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Assembly, hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi on behalf of management thanked the SWISS Mission for their unflinching support in the area of economic development.
Mr. Appaw-Gyasi further mentioned Tourism, Agricultural, among others which SWISS government can invest more to boost global trading.

The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi today lead the team of technocrats to commence one of the DPAT requirement dubbed "Community Engagement" in Koforidua in the Eastern Regional capital. The communities visited for the first day include Yaw kyeremkrom, Klutown and Social Welfare Electoral Area's respectively. The programme which was well attended by the Nananom of the various communities, the clegy, imams, students and general public sought to deepen democracy, ensure accountability and good governance to the people of Koforidua.
In his Presentation, the MCE said democracy is all about involving the local communities in decision making process. He said a country cannot develop without the due process of engaging the local people, hence the move by the Assembly to engage it citizenry in democratic process.
"We did not come here to fight but seek for development, so bring your views and all bottleneck issues that will be ceived into an action plan for the Municipality" Mr. Appaw-Gyasi indicated.

OVER 3,239 CANDIDATES WRITE SHS EXAM

Over Three thousand two hundred and thirty nine (3,239) final year Senior High students within the New Juaben south Municipality are taking part in the 2022 ongoing exams.
The candidates made-up of One thousand five hundred and thirteen (1,513) females and One thousand seven hundred twenty-four (1,724) males are drawn from Oti Boateng, Pentecost, Koforidua Secondary-Technical and New Juaben Senior High schools respectively.

This came to light when the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi and his entourage from the Municipal Education Directorate paid a visit to the various examination centers to wish the candidates the best of luck in their exams.
Encouraging the candidates, the MCE said the country is not ready to waste it resources but rather will do everything possible to invest in the future leaders of the country. “That is why the government, led by His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is paying more attention to the education of this country, and he wants you to pass and pass well since you are the next generation of this country” he explained.

Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi in the early hours of half passed seven (7:30am) advised the candidates to concentrate on their exams and eschew the habit of exams malpractice. “There are more glooming opportunities that awaits you, read the questions well, understand them before you answer” he indicated.

*WORKSHOP ON VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT IN NJSMA.*

The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly in collaboration with Foresight Planning Africa Limited and the Environmental Protection Agency has organised a workshop for stakeholders on climate change mitigation and adaptation on District Vulnerability Assessment in Koforidua in the Eastern.
The workshop, which was organised by the Environmental Protection Agency and the consortium firm called Forsight Planners sought to assist the various Assemblies to mainstream their proposals that will be included in the Assembly's Medium Term Development Plan and implemented in the daily activities.
In an interview with the Executive Director, Dr. Robert Manteaw, explained that climate change is seriously affecting everybody globally, saying, about 800 hundred thousand people are being affected yearly. In view of that Dr. Manteaw encouraged participants to understand how the current spatial structure of the districts inhibit the adaptive capacity nd resilience of the area to the changes in climate and its associate impact.
For his part, the indefatigable Chief Executive, Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi challenged participants to take key interest in the climate change issues in order to prepare a comprehensive adaptation plan for the Municipality.
Participants were stakeholders from diverse field such; Civil Society Organisations, Media, NADMO, Forestry, PWDs, Agric, Farmer Base Organisation among others.

NJSMA HAND OVER THOUSANDS OF COCONUT SEEDLINGS.
The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly under the auspices of hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi aka adwumawura, through the government's intention to boost agricultural has handed over thousands of coconut seedlings to farmers within the enclave of the Municipality. The idea behind the distribution is to ensure that the economic benefit of galant farmers in the country is met.
Presenting the MCE charged the farmers to continue rallying behind government in order to enhance Agric in the country. He further encouragedthe farmers to start thinking in venturing coconuts plantation since it holds a lot of economic prospects.

AT LONG LAST... NJSMA ELECT PM
At long last the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly has finally elected it Presiding Member for the fourth consecutive attempts. The incumbent PM, Hon. Rapchar Botchway polled thirty-four (34) out of the fourty-eight (48) total votes cast whilst twelve (12) people voted 'No' and two (2) rejected votes.
After a deadlocked on three attempts, the main contender, Hon. Yaw Debrah this time round stepped down for the rule of law which later culminated the victory of the incumbent PM.
Swearing the oath of office and secrecy; the PM elect promised to work hard, uphold the allegiance of office and ensure the development of the Municipality.
He further called for unity among honourable members so that together they can achieve the visions of the Assembly.

INSPECTION OF KOFORIDUA JACKSON PARK PROJECT
Honourable Isaac Appaw-Gyasi, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben South on Wednesday, July 13, 2022’ with the team of Heads of department, Assembly Members, Civil Society Organisation and other stakeholders inspected the progress of construction works on the redevelopment of 1st phase of the Koforidua Jackson Park project. The project under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support programme (GSCSP) was awarded to Soman Consult Limited to redevelop the park to befit a modern status in order to host all sort of events within the Koforidua Municipality and the nation at large.
According to him, the inspection was to ensure that the contractors working on the Jackson Park project execute on time and do an excellent job, where he charged the contractors of the project to expedite actions in order to complete the project on schedule. “If you award contracts and you do not supervise, visit or manage the contracts properly, anything can be done and handed over to you. That is why I have taken it upon myself to visit project sites to know what goes on there every week”, he said.
The MCE expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work being executed on the project as compared to his last visit on the site and commended the contractors. In attendance were the Municipal Planning Officer, Municipal Engineer Officer, Municipal Information Officer and other staff of the assembly.
The contractors are now working within an extension of time from their initial time span allotted to them and they assured the MCE and management to complete the project by September.

ISD, GRA SENSITIZED PUBLIC
The Information Services Department incollaboration with the Ghana Revenue Authority on today Friday, 20th May 2022; sensitized general public and the staff of the New Juaben South Municipality on the need to embrace the e-levy policy to ensure rapid development in the country.
The policy introduced 1st of May this year, sought to broaden and widening the country's tax bracket.
In his Presentation, Mr. Samuel Wiafe, an officer from GRA explained the pro's and cons that entails in the e-levy to the staff.
He further cautioned the staff to be circumspect about the operations of mobile money agents else they will charge them of personal cash in and cash out.
The Municipal Information Officer, Mr. Collins Aikins Akuffo reiterated the need to rally behind the government for successful implementation e-levy policy.
"The government of the day can do alot of development by way of entrepreneurship, infrastructure, digital security among others, if the e-levy is well embraced by all" he said.

NJSMA SUPPORT PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
The New New Juaben South Municipal Assembly on today, Friday 8th April 2022; presented items and cheques totalling GHC64, 850.00 to 41 Persons with disabilities in Koforidua the Eastern Regional capital.
The items include, 13, deep freezers, dryers, provisions and other assorted items and cheques for medicals and school fees.
Presenting the items to some of the beneficiaries, the New New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi entreated the beneficiaries to rally behind the government to do more.
"I dont expect any of you to hold back the items in your various home, i want you all to put the items to a good use so that we can achieve the intended purpose "
The Municipal Director for Social Welfare and Community Development, Mr. Emmanuel Larbi commended the government for the kind gesture, saying it will go a long way to better the lives of the people with disabilities.
