ABIRIW PRESBY TECHNICAL INSTITUTE RECEIVES 20 SEWING MACHINES FROM TVET SERVICE

The Eastern Regional Director for Ghana TVET Service, Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng, on behalf of her Director General, Mrs. Mawusi Nudekor Awity, generously donated twenty (20) pieces of sewing machines to Abiriw Presbyterian Technical Institute.

In a brief ceremony, the donation was done at the forecourt of Abiriw Presbyterian Church on 19th January, 2024, which saw the presence of the Traditional Authorities, Assemblyman for the area, Management of the School and some Fashion Learners

The Regional Director emphasized the importance of providing students with access to modern equipment, highlighting how the sewing machines would enhance practicality of their skills training. She encouraged the learners to cooperate with their facilitators and take learning serious, stressing on the main reason for their enrollment. Madam Evelyn expressed the Director General's commitment to empowering learners of TVET Institutions, and her immense gratitude to the revered Chiefs of the community for giving TVET land to develop Abiriw Presby Technical Institute.

Nana Okanta Ofori (Akyeamhene) and his elders, on behalf of Abiriwhene, extended their appreciation to the Regional Director and the Director General of Ghana TVET Service for their continued efforts in advancing Vocational Education and empowering students to thrive in their chosen vocational path

ANAMASE EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE HELD A FUNDRAISING PROGRAMME ON NEW YEAR TO BUILD A TVET INSTITUTE

The people of Anamase in the Achiase Constituency begun 2024 with glad tidings as the Education Development Committee of the Community organised a Fundraising Programme for the construction of a TVET Institute on January 1 to serve indigens, Constituents of Achiase and neighbouring towns

This Laudable initiative saw the attendance of many dignitaries including Mr J.A Biney (Patron of Anamase Education Development Committee), Hon Richmond Amponsah (DCE Achiase), Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng (Eastern Regional Director for TVET Service), Hon Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo (MP for Achiase Constituency), Hon Yaw Osarfo Marfo (Office of the President) and Okotwaasuo Kantamanto Oworea Agyekum 111(Akyem Bosome Oman Hene) who chaired the event

The Member of Parliament for Achiase Constituency, Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo assured all gathered that, he will do everything within his capacity and influence as an MP to facilitate completion of the project mentioning the material and financial support he has given thus far. He stressed the immeasurable important of Technical and Vocational Education and how it impacts the Global Economy

Speaking to the people of Anamase, Hon Yaw Osafo Marfo noted that, during his days as Minister under President Kuffour's regime, there were just a few Universities in the country, but the narrative has changed now. The implication is that, Ghanaian Universities produce numerous graduates annually but it is impossible for Government to absorb all of them into the public sector work or Government Agencies, stating that, TVET is the solution to graduate unemployment

The Eastern Regional Director for TVET Service, Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng acknowledged the remarkable efforts of President Akufo-Addo to ensuring the revamping and retooling of TVET Education, stressing that, Government has invested Millions of Dollars in TVET Infrastructure Development, Workshop Equipments and Curriculum Development. Madam Evelyn noted that, there are countries (such as Russia, China, Japan, Germany, etc) that have excelled in TVET to build resilient economies. She ended by commending the Hon. MP for his tireless efforts to bring a Public TVET Institute to the community, first of its kind in the Akyemansa Bloc

ABETIFI KTI HOLDS GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR LEARNERS
============================

Management of Abetifi Kyemase Technical Institute organized a graduation ceremony on Saturday 16th December, 2023 themed: “SKILLS TRAINING; A PROMISING AVENUE FOR JOB CREATION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT" at the forecourt of their main administration block.

The colourful event which was heavily attended had the presence of Nana Addo Takyi Barima representing Abetifihene, The Eastern Regional Director for TVET Service, (Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng) accompanied by Regional Heads of Administration and Corporate Affairs (Mr. Enoch Osei-Wusu and Mr. Albert Anderson) a team of old students led by their chairman Mr. Eric Effah Addo, the Clergy and was chaired by Mr. Kissi Emmanuel, a member of the Old Students Association of Abetifi KTI.

Nana Addo Takyi Barimah who graced the occasion on behalf of the Kwahu Abetifihene, Akyemfour Asiedu III noted that, parents should regularly check on their wards to see how they are fairing academically, health-wise and in terms of discipline. He acknowledged the impact of TVET delivery and admonished graduates to enhance their skills' development and good innovations as they venture into a competitive entrepreneurial world.

In his speech, Chairman for the graduation ceremony, Mr. Emmanuel Kissi appreciated the Institute for nurturing the trainees with life-changing skills. He congratulated the graduands and assured them that, the Old Students Association is committed to helping Abetifi KTI stand out in TVET excellence and to attain objectives of the institute. To fulfill a promise made, Mr. Kissi announced that, the Association has successfully procured a set of brass band and was donated on same day.

Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng read the Keynote address on behalf of the Director General for Ghana TVET Service (Mrs. Mawusi Nudekor Awity). She congratulated the Board, management, facilitators, graduands and learners for their contribution to the growth and development of Abetifi Kyemase Technical Institute. The Regional Director for TVET Service reiterated President Akuffo-Addo’s commitment to revamping, retooling and standardizing TVET education in Ghana. She noted that, our Technical Institutes equip learners with relevant employable and entrepreneurial skills for the labour market in addition to facilitating practical workplace experience learning and apprenticeship.
Madam Evelyn implored graduands to take opportunities that come their way to continually improve upon their skills.

Parents, guardians, families and friends present showed incredible joy throughout the program.

GRADUATION CEREMONY ON VOCATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING ORGANIZED FOR WOMEN IN AKIM - ACHIASE

The Eastern Regional Director for Ghana TVET Service, Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng attended a graduation and exhibition ceremony on Tuesday 31st October, 2023 in Akim - Achiase to climax the 9-day skills training for women in the constituency chaired by Daasebre Gyeni Akenten II, Chief of Achiase and the Nifa Hene of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area

The program which aimed at developing the skills of female constituents was organized and financed by the Member of Parliament for Achiase Constituency, Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo with the aid of Aseda Foundation which had four hundred (400) trainees in soap making, pastries making, fashion designing, catering, leather works, etc

However, the event was graced by other prominent figures including the Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, (Hon. Bright Wireko Brobby), NPP Women’s Organiser for the Eastern Region (Mercy Amoh Darkoa), and Mr. Jerry Osei-Poku (Regional Director of Youth Employment Agency representing his CEO)

The Hon. MP noted that, his initiative emanated from the prospects he acknowledges in TVET courses. He stated that, Skills development bridges the gap between education and employment.
Speeches from other dignitaries generally underscored the pivotal role of Technical and Vocational Education in today’s dynamic workforce stressing on the contributions of TVET Trainees

Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng, the Eastern Regional Director for TVET Service, emphasized the importance of TVET for the country's long-term growth and urged policymakers to prioritize it as President Akufo-Addo's administration has commenced. She thanked Hon Kofi Marfo and his supporting team for nurturing trainees' talents and congratulated graduates

The Commission for TVET in collaboration with Ghana TVET Service organised a 5-day workshop to train TVET Instructors at the various Institutes on the New Interim TVET Curriculum

The crucial exercise which was a separate but simultaneous programme kick-started on Monday 18th September, 2023 and ended on Friday 22nd September, 2023

The Eastern Regional Directorate of Ghana TVET Service embarked on a scheduled sensitization exercise to guide BECE graduands and their guardians on the 2023 Computerized School Selection Placement System

The program which occurred between Wednesday, September 13, 2023 and Friday, September 15, 2023 took the Regional Officers to a number of circuits in the New Juaben North Municipality, Abuakwa North Municipality, New Juaben South Municipality, the Akwapim Bloc and the Kwahu Bloc

Guardians were encouraged to enroll their wrads in various TVET Institutes in the country

TVET Institutes in the Capital City of Eastern Region, Koforidua, had the pleasure to receive the Deputy Minister of Education in charge of TVET on Monday, the 21st of August 2023

The working visit took Hon Gifty Twum Ampofo to Koforidua Technical Institute, Effiduase Technical Institute, and Gratis Technical Institute all in Koforidua, where she interacted with the Heads of Departments

She encouraged staff members of the three (3) Institutes to put in their all to face-lifting the image of Technical and Vocational Education and producing quality graduates for Ghana

ST. JOSEPH TECHNICAL INSTITUTE CELEBRATES 40TH ANNIVERSARY

On August 19, 2023, St. Joseph Technical Institute climaxed a week-long commemoration of forty (40) years of providing Academic Exellence in technical and vocational education to the good people of Ghana, under the theme "TVET: THE ENGINE FOR GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT IN GHANA"

Kwahu Tafohene (Nana Kwasi Opoku Mintah II) with his Kontihene (Nana Okyere Gyenya II), the Eastern Regional Director for TVET Service (Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng), the Deputy Director General for CTVET (Dr. Tina Abrefa-Gyan), the DCE for Kwahu East (Hon. Isaac Agyapong), and many other dignitaries attended the 40th anniversary celebration, chaired by Prof Mireku Gyimah

The Principal for JOTECH Mad. Faustina A. Afoko praised the staff for their tremendous dedication and competent supervision, which has resulted in the school's continued remarkable performance in external exams. She touted that the institute was the best technical school in the Eastern Region and the second best in Ghana.
She indicated the Institute’s cadet has achieved several accomplishments, like winning the inter-company drill competition in 2022 Madam Faustina showed appreciation to the Government of Ghana and other stakeholders for the numerous support JOTECH

Omari Addo Samuel, the Institute’s Student Representative Council President, revealed that the institute, despite not offering Agric, did very well by winning the Blue Skies School competition in the year 2020, which has garnered JOTECH some visible recognition. He praised the Management and administration for implementing initiatives to improve discipline at St JosephTechnicalInstitute.

In a speech read on behalf of the Director General for Ghana TVET Service, Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng (Eastern Regional Director), highlighted how TVET imparts vital knowledge into the Ghanaian youth populace and symbolises the pivot of Ghana's Development. She noted that the significance of TVET as a driving factor for sustainable development has resulted in a significant increase in its popularity and acceptability and praised JOTECH for its role played thus far. Madam Evelyn requested Management of the Institute to establish a method for training graduates and admonished all gathered to encourage BECE graduates to choose TVET in this year's SSPS

In her remarks, Dr. Tina Abrefa-Gyan, who represented the Deputy Minister of Education in charge of TVET (Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo), urged citizens to help shift the narrative around TVET. She noted that in order to satisfy the current demand for a skilled workforce, enrollment in Technical and Vocational Institutes must expand, and Ghanaians must recognise that vocational and technical skills are just as important as the traditional SHSs. She also mentioned that the Ministry of Education and CTVET are aware of the issues facing TVET Institutes and would be addressed in due course

Management of the Eastern Regional Directorate of Ghana TVET Service segregated Officers into groups to tour some churches within their Jurisdiction on Sunday, 20th August, 2023 to engage Guardians ahead of the 2023 School Selection Placement System

The Sunday exercise is scheduled to be followed by an interactive session with the BECE Candidates from Monday 21st August, 2023 to Wednesday August 23, 2023 to guide them on how to select TVET Institutes and Courses relative to their career aspirations

VACE-AUSTRIA COMPLETES TRAINING SESSION FOR ABTECH INSTRUCTORS

At the forecourt of the Administration Block of Abetifi Technical Institute, a brief ceremony was held to end training of instructors on the installation and usage of tools, machines and equipment at the refurbished and newly constructed workshops of the Institute which includes Automotive Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology and Welding & Fabrication Technology Workshops

The event which took place on Thursday August 3, 2023 was graced by the Deputy Minister for Education in charge of TVET (Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo), the Eastern Regional Director for TVET (Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng), The country Rep for VACE-AUSTRIA (Mr Danny Manu), Abetifi Traditional Authorities, and a host of other dignitaries and chaired by the DCE for Kwahu East District Assembly (Hon. Isaac Agyapong)

The Principal for Abetifi Technical Institute, Mr. Samuel Atua Baadu delivered a welcome address, showing appreciation to the Ministry of Education and VACE- AUSTRIA for immensely playing remarkable roles towards the realization of this project. The VACE country rep Mr. Danny Mainoo in his speech, appreciated efforts by the Ministry of Education, especially the deputy minister responsible for TVET, and admonished trainees and trainers to fully utilize the installed equipment. He also implored the Hon. DCE for Kwahu East District Assembly to service all of the Assembly's vehicles at the automobile workshop.

The Eastern Regional Director for TVET Service, Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng, assured the country rep of VACE- AUSTRIA of ensuring that, the installed equipment will be utilized to peak and as well devise a means of periodically maintaining them. She thanked VACE-AUSTRIA and humbly requested them to do more stressing that, TVET is the fulcrum of Ghana’s development. Madam Evelyn was accompanied by Mr. Anderson (Head of E/R Public Relations) and Mr. Enoch Osei-Owusu (Administrator)

The Deputy Minister for Education in charge of TVET disclosed that she visited the institute in 2019 and saw the need to help in face-lifting ABTECH and has since been working tirelessly to do the same. She also showed appreciation to VACE partners for training instructors on the usage of the equipment. The Hon. Deputy Minister admonished principals present to monitor trainers on how they use the equipment, especially for commercial purposes indicating that they struck an MOU to ensure strict adherence and compliance. She further advised the trainees to take their core courses very serious and cherish the installed tools, machines, and equipment.

Chairman for the Occasion, Hon. Isaac Agyapong (DCE for Kwahu East District Assembly) requested all government institutions within his Jurisdiction to bring their vehicles for servicing. He also urged the principal to put the facility to good use.

However, the program was embellished by some Trainees of ABTECH who had successfully fabricated a drone and tested it to the admiration of all gathered

DIRECTOR GENERAL GHANA TVET SERVICE PRESENT 20 SEWING MACHINES TO AKRODIE TECHNICAL INSTITUTE.

Mawusi Nudekor Awity the Director General for Ghana TVET Service on Thursday, July 27, 2023 presented 20 sewing machines to the Akrodie Technical Institute in the Ahafo Region (ATI).

The sewing machines were donated to help the Institute improve its training programs in sewing and garment making. The Institute has a program in fashion design technology, and the sewing machines will allow the institute to provide students with more hands-on experience.

Madam Mawusi Nudekor Awity said the donation was part of Government's commitment to providing quality TVET education in Ghana. She said that the sewing machines would help equip students with the skills they need to succeed in the workplace and also help boost the institute's reputation as a leading provider of TVET training in Ghana.

The Principal of Akrodie Technical Institute, Mr. Charles Akrobotu, thanked the Director General for the timely Support. He said that the sewing machines would be a valuable resource for the institute and its students.

AKROFUFU TECHNICAL INSTITUTE COMMISSIONS NEW GIRLS' DORMITORY

Friday, 7th July, 2023 was quite a blissful day, as Akrofufu Technical Institute commissioned their newly built Girls' Dormitory block, an event which was graced by the Chief of Akrofufu with his Queenmother and Elders, Chief of Akyem Muoso, the Eastern Regional Director for Ghana TVET Service and her Deputy, plus three (3) other Regional Officers and many more dignitaries

A welcome address was delivered by Principal of the Institute and his speech was greatly characterized by appreciation to the Chief of Akrofufu for his immense support towards realization of the project. Mr. Jude Keni Chanehu also acknowledged the contributions of staff members and welcomed everybody to the occasion

In her speech, Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng, acting Eastern Regional Director for Ghana TVET Service emphasised the importance of education and as such, a precious gift to every child. She highlighted President Akufo Addo’s remarkable support to TVET, stressing on the phenomenal investment and Free TVET making Technical and Vocational Education High-Quality and easily accessible irrespective of one’s financial strength. On behalf of the Service, Madam Evelyn expressed her profound gratitude to Osabarima Adugyei Gyamfi and admonished authorities and trainees to take good care of the facility and as well ensure a periodic maintenance culture

The Chief of Akrofufu who doubled as Chairman for the occasion in his remarks disclosed that, trainees of the institute did all the construction works and painting as well, reiterating the career prospects available for students who venture into Technical and Vocational Education.
He advised trainees to concentrate on their trade studies and endeavor to utilize related opportunities

ST. PAUL'S TECHNICAL INSTITUTE WINS MALE SOCCER COMPETITION AND ATHLETICS IN THE INTER-INSTITUTES SPORTS, KOFORIDUA ZONE

Under the chairmanship of INGR. Bernard Forson, (Zonal Chairman and Principal for KOTECH) the 2023 Inter-Institutes games and athletics competition ended successfully on Friday, 19th May, 2023 with St. Paul's Technical Institute emerging as winner for male soccer and athletics competitions whereas Koforidua Technical Institute girls also won both competitions

The occasion was graced by Mr. Benjamin Oduro Asante (Eastern Regional Director, NSS) Ms Evelyn Dansoa Boateng (Acting Regional Director, Ghana TVET Service - Eastern) who was accompanied by Mr. Scott Brantuo Kyereh, (Deputy Regional Director) Mr. Albert Anderson (Head of Public Relations) and Mr. Enoch Osei-Owusu (Administrator)

The categories were soccer, handball, volley ball, basketball, badminton, table tennis and netball. Other participating Institutes included: Effiduase Technical Institute (EFFITECH), Koforidua Gratis Technical Institute (Gratis) and Suhum Technical Institute (SUTECH) who emerged as winners for the Netball Category
