The South Dayi District Assembly hosted a 2-day Next Generation Local Governance Leadership Training for Hon. Assembly Members at the Assembly Hall, Kpeve.

The training was organized by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs in collaboration with the Institute of Local Government Studies.

The program focused on; Decentralisation and local governance laws ,Corporate governance and oversight responsibilities, Representative functions of Assembly Members ,Deliberative functions and meeting procedures ,Making and enforcement of by-laws ,Executive mandates of MMDAs and discretionary powers, Leadership and community mobilization, Leadership Change-Making Project.

The modules were delivered in a granular and practical manner to enable Assembly Members to apply them directly in their electoral areas.

This initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen local governance, improve service delivery, and empower our Assembly Members to drive development in their electoral areas.

The Assembly appreciates the Ministry and ILGS for this timely capacity building exercise.

SOUTH DAYI DISTRICT ASSEMBLY RANKS 6TH NATIONALLY IN PFM COMPLIANCE

The South Dayi District Assembly has been recognized as one of Ghana's top-performing local authorities in public financial management, placing 6th nationally and 2nd in the Volta Region in the 2025 Public Financial Management (PFM) Compliance League Table.

The ranking was announced on 8th July 2026 at the British Council Auditorium in Accra during the official launch of the 2025 PFM Compliance League Table by the Centre for Local Governance Advocacy and its partners. The assessment evaluated the financial management practices of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the country.

The Assembly attributed this achievement to the dedication and collaborative efforts of Management, Staff, Hon. Assembly Members, and all stakeholders working towards the district's development.

The South Dayi District Assembly, in collaboration with the Christian Council, marked the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Kpeve Newtown, under the theme, "Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want."

The event, part of a nationwide initiative by President John Dramani Mahama, brought together government officials, security personnel, clergy, traditional leaders, public servants, and students.

Addressing participants, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Courage Kokroko urged citizens to uphold honesty, discipline, excellence, and respect while rejecting shortcuts to success.

The programme featured prayers, worship, hymn singing, song ministrations, and an exhortation focused on national unity and moral renewal
