“MAKE WEAR GHANA CAMPAIGN, A NATIONAL MOVEMENT” – ASH. REG. TVET DIRECTOR

The Ashanti Regional Director of the Ghana TVET Service (GTVETS), Engr. Richard Addo-Gyamfi has urged all stakeholders and consumers of the Ghanaian fashion industry to join hands in making the ‘Wear Ghana Campaign’, a sustained national movement.
This, he noted, can drive the cultural pride that unites the Ghanaian identity, sustain economic growth, and enhance global recognition, reaffirming the commitment of GTVETS in building a skilled, innovative, and culturally grounded nation.
Engr. Addo-Gyamfi was speaking as a Special Guest at the official launch of “Wear Ghana Campaign 2026” on March 26, 2026, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
The event, organized by the Ashanti Fashion Industry Network (AFIN) on the theme: “Wear Ghana: Drive Cultural Pride, Economic Growth, and Global Recognition”, brought together experts in the fashion industry, security personnel, fashion tutors, and students, including learners from Ramseyer Technical Institute and Suntreso Technical Institute.
The Wear Ghana Campaign, an initiative of AFIN, forms part of their key activities scheduled for this year to promote the appreciation and patronage of Ghanaian-made clothing and textiles while supporting the growth and sustainability of the local fashion and textile industry.
The Campaign seeks to encourage individuals, institutions, and the wider public to consciously patronize Ghanaian-made clothing and textiles and also to educate the youth on the importance of supporting local industries as a means of creating employment, stimulating economic growth, and positioning Ghanaian fashion on the global stage.
The Regional TVET Director noted that the TVET institutions in the Ashanti region and Ghana as a whole are churning out new generations of fashion enthusiasts, who transform and revive textile designs into modern, stylish expressions that project the Ghanaian identity.
