**Ashanti Regional Minister Inspects Restarted USTED Great Hall Project**
Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene on Wednesday 19 August inspected ongoing construction works at the Great Hall on the Tanoso Campus of the University of Science and Technology Education (USTED), describing the project as a priority initiative that will deliver a major boost to education and regional development.
Accompanied by the Chief Director of the ARCC, Mr. Michael Owusu Amoako Esq., the Municipal Chief Executive for Kwadaso, the Vice Chancellor of USTED and the university’s management team, Dr. Amoakohene toured the site of the 3,000-capacity convention centre. The facility is designed to host academic programmes, conferences, cultural activities, exhibitions and other large-scale events, serving the university, the Ashanti Region and the wider country.
The minister noted that the project was initiated in 2010 under the administration of the late President John Evans Atta Mills and then-Vice President John Dramani Mahama. Work later stalled for several years, leaving the important public asset incomplete. He expressed satisfaction that construction was restarted last year and has now been prioritised for completion.
The Regional Minister paid tribute to President John Dramani Mahama, the Minister for Education and the Administrator of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) for their commitment to restarting the long-standing project and ensuring its completion.
He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to finish strategic infrastructure projects that expand educational capacity and create lasting opportunities for the people.
The inspection forms part of efforts to accelerate key educational infrastructure across the Ashanti Region.
